MoP Classic Phase 5: Siege of Orgrimmar — WoW MoP Classic
MoP Classic Phase 5 opens June 2, 2026: Siege of Orgrimmar's 14 bosses, Flexible raid difficulty, Tier 16, the Timeless Isle, legendary cloak finale, and everything else new in the final phase.
Siege of Orgrimmar
Phase 5 Overview · WoW MoP Classic
Phase 5 is the final chapter of Mists of Pandaria Classic, launching June 2, 2026. It delivers the Siege of Orgrimmar raid, the debut of Flexible difficulty, the Timeless Isle, the legendary cloak questline's conclusion, and the season's final PvP rewards. This is the culmination of every phase that came before it. If you only engage seriously with one phase, make it this one.

What Is MoP Classic Phase 5?

Phase 5 is the closing content patch of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic, corresponding to the original Patch 5.4.8 ruleset. It launched on June 2, 2026, with the Siege of Orgrimmar raid going live two days later on June 4, 2026.

The narrative spine of Phase 5 is the fall of Garrosh Hellscream. After four phases of watching the Warchief corrupt Pandaria with the power of the Sha, a combined Alliance and Horde coalition has finally reached the gates of Orgrimmar itself. The raid, the Timeless Isle, and Wrathion's legendary cloak questline all converge on the same outcome: dethroning Garrosh and ending his war.

Phase 5 at a glance: Siege of Orgrimmar opens June 4: Flexible, Normal, and Heroic simultaneously. Timeless Isle is available from day one of Phase 5. PvP Season 14 (Grievous Gladiator) begins. Proving Grounds go live. Legendary cloak's final chapter unlocks at the Tavern in the Mists.

What Is the Siege of Orgrimmar?

Siege of Orgrimmar is the final raid of Mists of Pandaria Classic and one of the largest raids Blizzard had built at the time. Fourteen boss encounters span four distinct wings, telling the story of a joint Horde and Alliance assault on Orgrimmar itself. You fight through a corrupted Vale, blast past the outer gates, descend into secret vaults beneath the city, and end in Garrosh Hellscream's inner sanctum.

The raid is available in four difficulty tiers: Raid Finder (LFR), Flexible, Normal, and Heroic. It is the only raid in MoP Classic to feature the new Flexible difficulty, which debuted here for the first time in WoW's history.

See the full boss-by-boss breakdown in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid guide.

What Are the Four Wings?

Wing 1 — Vale of Eternal Sorrows
The corrupted Vale you knew from questing, now drained and tainted by the Heart of Y'Shaarj. Bosses 1 through 4 confront the direct aftermath of Garrosh's desecration.

Bosses: Immerseus, Fallen Protectors, Norushen, Sha of Pride
Wing 2 — Gates of Retribution
The outer walls and approaches to Orgrimmar: military encounters against Garrosh's best defenders, his war machines, and a stolen dragon.

Bosses: Galakras, Iron Juggernaut, Kor'kron Dark Shamans, General Nazgrim
Wing 3 — The Underhold
Secret vaults built beneath Orgrimmar, stocked with stolen Pandaren artifacts and whatever horrors Garrosh could press into service.

Bosses: Malkorok, Spoils of Pandaria, Thok the Bloodthirsty
Wing 4 — Downfall
The foundry, the Klaxxi council, and the final confrontation. Garrosh Hellscream in his most powerful state, fused with the power of Y'Shaarj.

Bosses: Siegecrafter Blackfuse, Paragons of the Klaxxi, Garrosh Hellscream

What Difficulty Modes Does SoO Have in Phase 5?

Phase 5 is the first time Flexible Raid difficulty exists in the game. All four modes open simultaneously on June 4.

DifficultySizeGear (ilvl)LockoutNotes
LFR25 (auto-queue)528Per-boss, personal lootRequires ilvl 496 to queue; split across four wings
Flexible10-30 players540Leader-based per-bossScales difficulty and health to group size; cross-realm premade
Normal10 or 25553Weekly raid IDWarforged versions (+6 ilvl) can drop on any boss
Heroic10 or 25566Weekly raid IDWarforged drops; Kor'kron Juggernaut 100% from Garrosh while current tier

What Is the Flexible Raid Difficulty?

Flexible Raid is new to Phase 5. It has never existed in WoW before this patch. The core idea is simple: instead of requiring exactly 10 or exactly 25 players, Flexible SoO accepts any premade group from 10 to 30 raiders. Boss health, damage output, and mechanics scale automatically to match whatever you bring.

Flexible Difficulty — Why It Matters
The gap between LFR and Normal, bridged
Flexible SoO sits between LFR (ilvl 528) and Normal (ilvl 553), rewarding ilvl 540 gear. The lockout is leader-based: the raid leader tracks which bosses are killed, and other players can join or leave mid-clear without the whole ID being locked to them. It is also fully cross-realm, meaning you can invite friends from other servers. For guilds that could never quite field 10 reliable raiders, Flexible is the answer. Bring 7, pug 3 from another realm, and still progress at a meaningful gear level.

Key Flexible details to know:

  • You must form the group manually through the premade group finder or direct invites. It does not have an auto-queue.
  • Difficulty scales smoothly between 10 and 30. Adding a player makes every boss slightly harder, but does not require restructuring your strategy.
  • Loot drops scale with group size as well; more players means more total drops per kill.
  • The lockout system means you can extend, reset, or share clears the same way you would a Normal lockout.

What Valor Gear Is Available in Phase 5?

Valor Points remain the primary catch-up and supplement currency in Phase 5. Several vendors across Pandaria sell ilvl 553 and upgraded pieces in exchange for Valor earned from SoO itself, heroic dungeons, and weekly quests.

Valor Point Gear (ilvl 553)
DIRECT PURCHASE
Shado-Pan Assault and other Pandaria faction vendors sell ilvl 522 and 553 pieces for Valor. Phase 5 raises the Valor cap and adds Phase 5-tier vendor purchases. Valor gear fills gaps Normal SoO has not covered yet.
Gear Upgrades
VALOR UPGRADE SYSTEM
Valor Points can also be spent at an upgrade vendor to add item levels directly to gear you already own. Each upgrade step costs Valor, and the maximum upgrades per item depend on its source tier.
Timeless Isle Cache Gear (ilvl 496 / 535)
CATCH-UP GEAR
Timeless Armor Tokens purchased or found on the Timeless Isle create ilvl 496 epics. Applying a Burden of Eternity (a rare find on the Isle) upgrades any Timeless Token to ilvl 535. Tokens are Bind-on-Account, making this the fastest alts-gearing path in the game.
Alt gearing tip: Timeless Tokens are Bind-on-Account. Send them to every alt you want to gear. A fresh level-90 alt can reach ilvl 496 in a single session on the Timeless Isle, enough to queue LFR on day one. With a Burden of Eternity, one piece jumps straight to ilvl 535.

What Is the Timeless Isle?

The Timeless Isle is the Phase 5 outdoor endgame zone, a time-displaced island that materialises off the Timeless Coast of Pandaria. It is the hub for most of Phase 5's non-raid activity.

Timeless Coins
PRIMARY CURRENCY
The island's main currency. Collected from rare elites, treasure chests, world bosses, and daily events. Spent on armor cache tokens, Mogu Runes of Fate (bonus rolls), and Deeds of Valor (converts 3,000 Timeless Coins into 100 Valor Points, up to the weekly cap).
Celestial World Bosses
WEEKLY LOOT OPPORTUNITY
The four August Celestials (Chi-Ji, Yu'lon, Niuzao, and Xuen) spawn as world bosses in the Celestial Court on the Timeless Isle. Each drops Normal SoO-quality loot and can be bonus-rolled once per week. A fifth world boss, Ordos, requires the Legendary Cloak to access.
Emperor Shaohao Reputation
PRESTIGE FACTION
Earned from killing Yaungol, Ordon fire walkers, and participating in world boss kills. Exalted with Emperor Shaohao unlocks the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent mount, the most visually distinct grind reward of Phase 5.
Ordos — Legendary-Gated Boss
LEGENDARY CLOAK REQUIRED
Ordos is a Yaungol world boss in the Ordon Sanctuary, accessible only to players wearing the Legendary Cloak. This is the only gate of its kind in MoP Classic. Completing the cloak questline is the admission fee. He drops high-quality gear and is worth killing weekly.

What Is the Legendary Cloak and How Does Chapter V Work?

Wrathion's legendary cloak questline spans all five phases of MoP Classic. Phase 5 unlocks the final chapter, Chapter V, which transforms your Chapter IV epic cloak (ilvl 600) into a true Legendary item.

Legendary Cloak — Chapter V
The final step of Wrathion's five-chapter questline
The questline resumes at Wrathion at the Tavern in the Mists. Chapter V sends you to the Timeless Isle to collect 5,000 Timeless Coins and defeat each of the four August Celestials as world bosses, then face the final trial: killing Garrosh Hellscream in any difficulty of Siege of Orgrimmar. Completing all of this upgrades your epic ilvl 600 cloak into a Legendary back piece. It also unlocks permanent access to Ordos on the Timeless Isle, an account-wide benefit that persists across all your characters on the same realm.

Which Legendary Cloak Should You Choose?

There are six legendary cloaks, each designed for a specific role and stat type. You pick one at the end of the questline.

Cloak NamePatron CelestialStat TypeFor
Qian-Ying, Fortitude of NiuzaoNiuzaoStrengthStrength-based tanks
Qian-Le, Courage of NiuzaoNiuzaoAgilityAgility-based tanks
Fen-Yu, Fury of XuenXuenAgilityAgility melee and ranged DPS
Gong-Lu, Strength of XuenXuenStrengthStrength melee DPS
Xing-Ho, Breath of Yu'lonYu'lonIntellectRanged caster DPS
Jina-Kang, Kindness of Chi-JiChi-JiIntellectHealers
Haven't started the cloak yet? You can still complete Chapters I through IV in Phase 5. They are not time-gated to specific prior phases in MoP Classic. You can run the full chain from start to Legendary in a single phase if you are efficient about it. The Tavern in the Mists in Kun-Lai Summit is where Wrathion waits.

What Tier 16 Gear Drops in Siege of Orgrimmar?

Tier 16 is the best-in-slot armor set for virtually every spec in Phase 5. Pieces are distributed via three armor token types that drop from specific bosses and can also be obtained by exchanging Essences of the Corrupted (dropped by Garrosh) for any piece of your choice.

Vanquisher Token
Classes: Rogue, Mage, Druid, Death Knight

Drops from bosses across all four wings. Trade to vendors in the Vale for the set piece of your choice from your Vanquisher token set.
Conqueror Token
Classes: Paladin, Priest, Warlock

Same system: turn in the Conqueror token at the vendor for your class's Tier 16 piece. Competes across three classes for the same token drop pool.
Protector Token
Classes: Warrior, Hunter, Shaman, Monk

Protector tokens share a pool across four classes. Prioritize Normal and Heroic kills for the highest item level pieces from your token.

The 2-piece and 4-piece set bonuses from Tier 16 are significant throughput increases for every spec. The 4-piece is a meaningful DPS or healing upgrade over any non-set-piece combination. Prioritize getting the 4-piece as your primary gearing goal when progressing SoO.

Garrosh Hellscream drops Essences of the Corrupted that let you trade for any Tier 16 token piece of your choice, making him the most important boss kill for plugging specific set gaps.

What Are the Notable Phase 5 Mount Rewards?

Kor'kron Juggernaut
HEROIC GARROSH — 100% CURRENT TIER
A mechanical scorpion in full Kor'kron war-machine livery. Drops at 100% from Heroic Garrosh Hellscream while Phase 5 is the current content tier. When Phase 5 ends and the tier becomes legacy, the drop rate falls to approximately 1%. The most time-sensitive collectible in all of MoP Classic.
Kor'kron War Wolf
AHEAD OF THE CURVE — HEROIC GARROSH
An armored wolf rewarded via the Ahead of the Curve: Garrosh Hellscream (Heroic) achievement. Earned by defeating Heroic Garrosh before the tier expires. This achievement and its mount reward become unavailable when the next expansion launches.
Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent
EMPEROR SHAOHAO — EXALTED
Exalted with Emperor Shaohao on the Timeless Isle. A long reputation grind. Shaohao has no Grand Commendation, so every character grinds at the same rate. Kill Yaungol and Ordon fire walkers on the Isle to earn reputation steadily.
Reins of Galakras
CHALLENGE ACHIEVEMENTS — HEROIC SoO
Earned by completing all 14 challenge achievements within Heroic Siege of Orgrimmar. These are the meta-achievement rewards for Heroic SoO and require defeating every boss on Heroic with specific mechanics completed.
Time-sensitive warning: The Kor'kron Juggernaut drops at 100% only while Phase 5 is the current content tier. The Kor'kron War Wolf and Ahead of the Curve achievement disappear entirely when the next expansion pre-patch arrives. If either is on your list, start Heroic SoO progression now. These are permanently missable.

What Is New for PvP in Phase 5?

PvP Season 14 begins with Phase 5 on June 2, 2026. The season introduces the Grievous Gladiator gear set as the rated PvP reward tier, with higher item levels than any previous season in MoP Classic.

Season 14 Highlights
✓ Grievous Gladiator set — highest rated PvP gear in MoP Classic
✓ Grievous Gladiator title for top-ranked Arena players
✓ Grievous Gladiator mount reward
✓ Vicious Saddle accumulation continues for season mounts
✓ Honor gear catch-up for new PvP entrants
✓ New PvP-specific trinkets and weapons
PvP Gearing Notes
✗ Conquest cap resets at season start — begin earning fresh
✗ Previous Tyrannical Gladiator gear remains usable for entry
✗ Elite set cosmetics require Grievous Gladiator standing
✗ The Timeless Isle has open-world PvP objectives for Bloody Coins
✗ Resilience is still the primary PvP defensive stat

What Are the Proving Grounds?

Proving Grounds is Phase 5's new solo challenge system. Located in the Temple of the White Tiger in Kun-Lai Summit, it pits you against solo trials designed to test your spec's core skills without a raid team to carry you through the hard parts.

TierChallengeReward
BronzeComplete the basic trial for your role (DPS/Tank/Healer)Achievement
SilverHarder version; required for Looking for Raid entry in WoD (future)Achievement + title
GoldSignificantly more demanding; proves mastery of your specAchievement + title
EndlessInfinite waves — survive as long as possible for score rankingScore leaderboard + unique title

Proving Grounds scales its encounter difficulty to your current gear level. Your item level is normalized at the start of each trial, so it is a genuine test of mechanical skill rather than stat padding.

How Should I Prioritize Phase 5 Content?

Phase 5 has more moving parts than any previous MoP Classic phase. Here is a logical priority order for most players.

Suggested Phase 5 Priority Order
1
Start the legendary cloak questline immediately. Visit Wrathion at the Tavern in the Mists on launch day. The sooner you finish Chapter V, the sooner you gain access to Ordos and his weekly loot.
2
Farm Timeless Coins on the Isle. Get your ilvl 496 token set and hunt Burden of Eternity upgrades before the raid opens. It brings every slot to a baseline that makes LFR and Flexible comfortable.
3
Kill all four Celestials weekly. Each offers SoO Normal-quality loot and can be bonus-rolled. Free gear, zero lockout competition.
4
Prog SoO Normal and Heroic for Tier 16. The 4-piece is the primary gear goal. Aim for the token pieces first; use Garrosh's Essence exchanges to fill any missing set pieces.
5
Kill Heroic Garrosh before Phase 5 ends. The Kor'kron Juggernaut at 100% and the Kor'kron War Wolf via Ahead of the Curve are both permanently missable once the current tier expires.

How Do I Access MoP Classic Accounts for Phase 5?

If you are looking to jump into Phase 5 content on a character that is already geared and legendary-cloak eligible, the MoP Classic accounts marketplace is the fastest way to start without grinding through Phases 1 through 4. Accounts with existing Tier 15 gear and active cloak questline progress drop directly into Phase 5 content at a competitive starting point.

FAQ

What is the Phase 5 release date for MoP Classic? Phase 5 launched on June 2, 2026, following the weekly maintenance window. The Siege of Orgrimmar raid itself opened two days later on June 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PDT.

Do I need to have completed the legendary cloak questline in prior phases? No. You can complete all five chapters of Wrathion's questline in Phase 5. The earlier chapters are not locked to specific prior phases in MoP Classic. Players starting fresh in Phase 5 will take longer to complete the chain than those who progressed through earlier phases, but the questline is fully available.

What is the minimum item level to queue for Siege of Orgrimmar LFR? You need an average item level of 496 to queue for SoO LFR. Timeless Isle armor token gear provides exactly this baseline. Grinding the Isle before June 4 is the fastest way to become LFR-eligible.

How is Flexible Raid different from Normal in Phase 5? Flexible Raid accepts premade groups of 10 to 30 players, scales difficulty and health to your group size, and rewards ilvl 540 gear versus Normal's ilvl 553. The lockout is leader-managed rather than ID-locked, and the mode is cross-realm. It sits between LFR and Normal in difficulty and loot quality.

Is the Kor'kron Juggernaut really 100% drop rate from Heroic Garrosh? Yes. The Kor'kron Juggernaut drops at 100% from Heroic Garrosh Hellscream while Phase 5 is the current content tier. Once Phase 5 ends and Siege of Orgrimmar becomes legacy content, the mount drops at approximately 1%. Every Heroic Garrosh kill during Phase 5 guarantees this mount.

What happens to the Ordos world boss if I complete the legendary cloak on one character? Ordos access is account-wide on a per-realm basis. Completing the legendary cloak on any character grants all characters on that realm access to the Ordon Sanctuary and Ordos himself. You still need to be wearing the cloak on each character to pass the bridge gate.
