WoW Midnight Pet Collection: 60+ New Pets and Where They
How Many New Pets Did Midnight Add?
WoW Midnight Season 1 added 60+ new pets across battle-capable PvP picks, cosmetic-only companions, and system-specific collectibles tied to Delves, raids, Prey, and renown. The headline battle pet is Ominous Domanus from Nullaeus (the Torment's Rise Nemesis Delve), which shifts the Pet Battle PvP meta. This guide covers every new pet, where it drops, and which ones matter for the battle ladder.
This guide covers the most-chased ones with sources confirmed against Wowhead's Pet Collection Guide for Midnight, WarcraftPets' Midnight tracker, and Xu-Fu's Pet Guide.
Which New Midnight Pets Are Best for Battle?
Eight new pets are battle-capable and have unique abilities. The headline ones:
Ominous Domanus
The S-tier addition. Drops from Nullaeus in Torment's Rise, the Season 1 Nemesis Delve. Low rate per weekly attempt. The pet's kit includes a void DoT-and-drain combo that's already shifted the pet PvP meta — it counters most beast and elemental teams hard. If you do nothing else with battle pets this season, run Nullaeus once a week for the chance.
Doomfeathers and Hopeflutter
The Epic Edition pre-order pets. Both are flying-type with strong burst kits. Tradeable via account code if you bought a second key. They count toward the Midnight Menagerie collection meta achievement.
Mini Nalorakk
Drops from the namesake boss in Den of Nalorakk dungeon. Beast-type, high HP, slow but tanky. Good for healing-attrition teams.
Other Confirmed Battle Pets
The pet community has confirmed eight named battle pets in Season 1; the four above are the most-played. The remaining four — covered with full ability breakdowns on Xu-Fu's Pet Guide — include trainer-quest rewards and zone rare drops.
Where the Other 50+ Pets Come From
Cosmetic companion pets in Midnight come from every endgame system:

What Is the Pet Battle Meta in 2026?
The Midnight launch shifted the pet PvP meta more than any patch since Shadowlands. Top team archetypes that emerged:
- Void DoT teams — Ominous Domanus + companion pets, layer DoTs and drain enemy health
- Flying burst teams — Doomfeathers + Sunwing-style pets, fast turns and heavy single-attack damage
- Healing attrition — Outlast opponents through sustained heals; runs slower fights but high win rate against aggro
How Do You Level Pets Fast in Midnight?
Most Midnight pets drop at level 1. To get them to 25 (where they're battle-viable):
- Squirt's Pet Battle Tournament — runs every 3 days at the Celestial Tournament area in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. With Safari Hat + a stack of Pet Treats, a level 1 pet hits 25 in about 2-3 rounds.
- Pet Battle World Quests — check the in-game calendar for Midnight pet WQs. Each pays 2-3 levels with a carry team.
- Carry pets — Chrominius (Howl + Bite combo) and a maxed Iron Starlette are the meta carry options. Both are old pets that stay relevant.
Where Do Battle Stones Come From in Midnight?
To upgrade a pet's rarity (Poor → Rare), you need Flawless Battle-Stones. Midnight added four sources:
- Prey System Normal-tier — 1 random family stone per weekly hunt
- Lumen Festival in Harandar (Saturdays at server midnight) — 3 stones per event completion
- Pet Battle WQ bonus cache — 1 stone per 5 WQs completed
- Pet Charms vendor — 75 charms for a family-specific stone
Warband Pet Journal
New in Midnight: your pet collection is shared across your entire Warband. Every pet you collect on one character appears for all characters. The Warband Journal UI also tracks per-character usage history, useful for filtering achievement progress.
Collection Achievements
Three achievement tracks worth chasing:
- Midnight Menagerie — collect 50 new Midnight pets. Rewards a Stonewing Companion pet plus 500 pet-battle currency.
- Let's Get to Know Each Other — defeat every new Midnight pet battle NPC trainer. Rewards a Shifting Shadowling pet.
- Silence in the Pack — level 5 new pets to 25. Rewards pet charms and the title Voidtamer.
