Blizzard was not done with The Venomous Abyss after Thursday. One day after the November 5 hotfixes softened Entombed Sentinels, Twin Fangs and The Coiled Altar, the living hotfix page picked up a November 6, 2026 section on Friday afternoon, and this time the target is the final boss. Ula'tek gets the longest single nerf list she has had all season, plus a health scaling change that matters a lot if your guild has been raiding Heroic with 14 or 16 people instead of a full 20 plus.
The official text lives on Blizzard's Hotfixes: November 6, 2026 page, which is the same living post that also carries the November 5, October 30 and October 27 entries. Everything in this guide is pulled from that page. Where a number is not on it, we say so instead of guessing.
What is in the November 6 hotfix block
The whole block sits under Dungeons and Raids, and the whole block is The Venomous Abyss. No class tuning, no PvP lines, no Delve or Labyrinth fixes, and nothing for Classic, Season of Discovery or the Burning Crusade Classic realms. If you are a Mythic+ player or an arena main, you can skip to the FAQ. If you raid, read on.
There are two encounters in the post:
- Vashnik, the Malignant gets two Mythic only lines aimed at Malignance.
- Ula'tek gets a health scaling rework on the three lower difficulties, a Heroic health cut, damage reductions on almost every ability that hits the raid, and fewer adds and targets on several mechanics.
Vashnik, the Malignant: Malignance on Mythic
The Vashnik change is short:
- Malignance damage reduced by 37% on Mythic difficulty.
- Malignance damage over time duration reduced to 16 seconds on Mythic difficulty.
For a Mythic group, the practical effect is that Malignance should stop being a debuff that quietly drains healer mana for most of a phase. A shorter DoT means fewer overlapping stacks if your strategy has the same players picking it up on a rotation, and a lower damage number means dispel or defensive timing becomes less tight. You probably do not need to rewrite assignments. You may be able to free a healing cooldown that was parked on Malignance windows and move it somewhere else.
Heroic and Normal Vashnik are not touched in this block.
Ula'tek health scaling for smaller raids
This is the line that changes the most raids, even though it has no percentage attached.
On Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic, Blizzard adjusted health scaling on Ula'tek and four add types to "better account for smaller raid sizes." The units listed are:
- Ula'tek
- Blightscale Rawling
- Blightscale Viper
- Blightscale Shrieker
- Weakened Doomscale
On top of that, Ula'tek's health is reduced by 15% on Heroic. That 15% stacks with the scaling change on Heroic, so a 15 person Heroic group should feel the biggest difference in the whole post. The exact new health values are not published. Expect your pull timer on Heroic to drop noticeably, and expect add waves in the later phases to die before they stack into the familiar mess.
Mythic is a fixed 20 person difficulty, so it is not mentioned in the scaling line, and Mythic Ula'tek does not get a health cut in this block.
Every Ula'tek change by difficulty
Here is the full Ula'tek list sorted into one grid. "Not listed" means Blizzard did not mention that difficulty for that ability in the November 6 text.
A few of those lines need a little explanation.
Unchecked Rage: -61% everywhere
This is the only damage line that is exactly the same on all four difficulties. A 61% cut is large enough that Unchecked Rage moves from a raid cooldown moment to something your healers can probably handle with normal throughput. Whether that frees a Spirit Link, Aura Mastery or Barrier depends on how your group stacked cooldowns before, but it is worth checking on the first pull.
Caustic Waves: two numbers, read both
Caustic Waves now has separate impact and lingering damage cuts. The impact is down 32% on Heroic and Mythic. The damage over time is down 75% on Normal, 61% on Heroic and 89% on Mythic. That Mythic number is the eye-catching one, and it lands on top of the October 6 change that already took Mythic tails from seven waves to three. Getting clipped by a wave on Mythic is no longer a slow death sentence through the DoT.
There is also a Heroic specific fix: Ula'tek no longer generates additional Caustic Waves from Spectral Tails while sending walls of waves across the platforms in Phase 3. Heroic groups that were wiping to extra wave overlap in the last phase should see the platforms read much cleaner.
Malice, Virulent Spit and Falling Debris
These three are the "the raid takes chip damage all fight" abilities, and each has a different split:
- Malice: -63% on Normal and Heroic, -45% on Mythic. Nothing listed for Raid Finder.
- Virulent Spit: -46% on Raid Finder, -33% on Normal and Heroic, -36% on Mythic.
- Falling Debris: -46% on Raid Finder, -33% on Normal and Heroic, -77% on Mythic.
Viscous Echoes, Noxious Splash and Putrid Membrane
Viscous Echoes impact damage is down 53% and its damage over time is down 25% on all difficulties.
On Mythic only, Noxious Splash initial damage is down 33% and its damage over time is down 84%, and Putrid Membrane now lasts 20 seconds instead of 30. That Membrane change is a third shorter, which matters for whichever role has to play around it in your strategy.
Eggs and target counts
The add side of the fight gets thinned in several places:
- Call of the Serpent summons fewer eggs on Normal and Heroic. Blizzard did not publish the new number for this line.
- Phase 2 on Heroic loses 2 eggs from each side, for 8 eggs per side total.
- Serpent's Bite selects fewer targets on all difficulties.
- Grasping Fangs selects fewer targets on Normal and Heroic.
What it means for your raid night
You do not need a new strategy. You need to re check a few assumptions.
Heroic groups. This is the biggest win in the post. Lower health, scaling built for smaller rosters, two fewer eggs per side in Phase 2, no bonus Caustic Waves in Phase 3, and big cuts to Malice and Caustic Waves DoT. If your guild has been parked on Heroic Ula'tek trying to get Ahead of the Curve before attention shifts fully to Kith'ix, this weekend is the window. Schedule an extra night if you can.
Normal and Raid Finder. Normal sees most of the same scaling and add benefits, plus the -75% Caustic Waves DoT and -63% Malice. Raid Finder gets the scaling, the Unchecked Rage and Viscous Echoes cuts, and the Virulent Spit and Falling Debris reductions. If you are clearing for transmog or catching up an alt, the final boss should go down with fewer of those long wipe pulls where half the group is dead before the last phase.
Mythic groups. Mythic does not get the health or scaling help, and Malice is cut less here than on Heroic. What Mythic gets is a set of very large DoT and debris cuts: Caustic Waves DoT -89%, Falling Debris -77%, Noxious Splash DoT -84%, plus a shorter Putrid Membrane. The fight will still check your DPS. It will check your healers a lot less. Guilds near the end of progression should expect their best pull to get further, because the damage profile in the late phases is lower across the board.
Healers. Rebuild the cooldown sheet after one or two pulls. Several abilities that used to need a raid cooldown may now be handled by normal throughput, and you may be able to move those cooldowns to the phase transitions instead.
Raid leaders. Do not change soak or position assignments until you see the new target counts in practice. Blizzard said "reduced the number of targets" for Serpent's Bite and Grasping Fangs without saying the new number, so let the first few pulls show you what you are working with.
Do you need a reset for this
Blizzard did not label any of the November 6 lines as "with weekly restarts." Some hotfixes take effect instantly and some only after a realm restart, and the header on the page says as much. Third party trackers recorded these changes as live during the evening of Friday, November 6. If your Saturday pull still looks like the old numbers, a realm restart may not have hit yet. The next scheduled weekly maintenance for North American realms is Tuesday, November 10, so by then every line should be in place either way.
How this fits the season's Venomous Abyss nerf trail
Ula'tek has been the main progression wall in The Venomous Abyss since the raid opened, and Blizzard has been chipping at her for weeks. Here is the short history from the official hotfix posts we have covered:
Two things stand out. First, this is the first pass that openly targets smaller raid sizes. Earlier Ula'tek nerfs were straight damage cuts and soak count changes. The November 6 change admits the flex scaling itself was part of the problem, and that is a fix that helps groups that cannot fill every slot on a Friday night.
Second, the Coiled Altar complaint from October finally got an answer. Players in the October 6 forum thread argued that Coiled Altar, the boss before Ula'tek, had become the harder Mythic wall. Blizzard nerfed Coiled Altar on October 13 and again on November 5, and now the final boss follows a day later. Taken together, the whole back half of the raid is meaningfully easier than it was a week ago.
For the full boss lineup and loot map, our Season 2 Venomous Abyss raid guide still covers the inventory side. For the earlier passes, see the October 6 Ula'tek nerfs and the October 13 hotfixes.
Raid night checklist
Before you form up this weekend:
- Confirm the numbers are live. Pull a quick training attempt and compare one Unchecked Rage or Falling Debris hit against an old log.
- Recount eggs on Heroic. Phase 2 should show 8 per side. If you still see 10, wait for a realm restart.
- Rebuild your healing cooldown plan after the first full pull. Expect Caustic Waves DoT and Malice windows to need much less.
- Watch new target counts on Serpent's Bite and Grasping Fangs before you touch positioning.
- Mythic Vashnik: check that Malignance falls off at 16 seconds and re balance dispel or defensive calls.
- Push for AOTC this weekend if you are a Heroic guild. The fight is at its softest point of the season.
Things Blizzard has not said yet
To keep this honest, here is what the November 6 post does not tell us:
- The new health totals for Ula'tek and the four adds after the scaling change.
- The previous duration of Vashnik's Malignance DoT (only the new 16 seconds is official).
- The new egg count for Call of the Serpent on Normal and Heroic, and the new target counts for Serpent's Bite and Grasping Fangs.
- Whether any line needed a realm restart rather than going live instantly.
- Whether more Venomous Abyss tuning is planned before the next weekly reset.
Frequently Asked Questions
What changed in the WoW hotfixes on November 6, 2026?
The November 6 block is all Venomous Abyss raid tuning. Vashnik, the Malignant gets a 37% Malignance damage cut and a 16 second DoT duration on Mythic. Ula'tek gets new health scaling and lower base health on Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic, a 15% Heroic health cut, and damage reductions to Unchecked Rage, Caustic Waves, Malice, Virulent Spit, Falling Debris, Viscous Echoes, Noxious Splash and Putrid Membrane, plus fewer eggs and fewer targets on several abilities.
Was Ula'tek nerfed on Heroic?
Yes, heavily. Heroic Ula'tek has 15% less health on top of the new small-raid health scaling, Caustic Waves impact is down 32% and its DoT is down 61%, Malice is down 63%, Phase 2 now has 8 eggs per side instead of 10, and Spectral Tails no longer spawn additional Caustic Waves in Phase 3. Unchecked Rage, Virulent Spit, Falling Debris and Viscous Echoes are also cut.
Did Mythic Ula'tek get easier?
Mythic did not get the health cut or the scaling change, but it got some of the biggest damage cuts: Caustic Waves DoT -89%, Falling Debris -77%, Unchecked Rage -61%, Malice -45%, Noxious Splash initial -33% and DoT -84%, and Putrid Membrane lasting 20 seconds instead of 30. The fight will still test DPS, but healing requirements in the later phases drop a lot.
Why did Blizzard change Ula'tek health scaling?
Blizzard said the adjustment is meant "to better account for smaller raid sizes" on Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic. Base health was lowered at the same time so the new scaling does not make the boss and adds tankier when more players join. In practice, groups running short rosters were facing a fight tuned too hard for their size, and this brings it back in line.
Which adds are affected by the Ula'tek health change?
The scaling and base health change applies to Ula'tek herself plus Blightscale Rawling, Blightscale Viper, Blightscale Shrieker and Weakened Doomscale, on Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic.
What is the Vashnik Malignance nerf?
On Mythic difficulty only, Malignance deals 37% less damage and its damage over time now lasts 16 seconds. Blizzard did not publish the old duration in the hotfix. Heroic and Normal Vashnik are unchanged in this block.
Are the November 6 hotfixes live now or after weekly reset?
Blizzard did not tag them as weekly restart changes, and trackers recorded them going live on the evening of November 6. Some hotfixes need a realm restart to apply, so if anything looks unchanged on your realm, the next North American weekly maintenance on Tuesday, November 10 will lock them in.
Did the November 6 hotfixes include class tuning or PvP changes?
No. The November 6 section only contains Venomous Abyss raid changes. The most recent class and PvP tuning on the same living page is the October 27 block, which included Feral and Fire buffs, a Subtlety Rogue nerf and a long PvP list.
Is this the easiest Ula'tek has been this season?
Yes. Between the September 22 Stone Venom cut, the October 6 Heroic and Mythic pass, and now the November 6 health and damage changes, Ula'tek is at her softest point since The Venomous Abyss opened. Heroic groups chasing Ahead of the Curve have their best shot of the season this weekend.
