WoW Midnight Hotfixes November 5: Venomous Abyss Heroic and Mythic Nerfs, Coiled Altar and Twin Fangs
Quick Answer · Midnight Hotfixes · November 5
• What: Blizzard added a November 5 section to the living Midnight hotfix page. The headline is Venomous Abyss raid tuning on Heroic and Mythic, plus a Shadowguard Point delve fix and Tortollan NPC name updates.
• Heroic + Mythic: Entombed Sentinels Blood Venom pools get a smaller maximum scale. Coiled Altar Axegrinder axes move 20% slower on all difficulties.
• Mythic only: Blood Venom pools last 2 minutes (was 5). Twin Fangs Visceral Burst damage −40%. Coiled Altar Axegrinder and Gloombomb damage −20%, Venom Rupture −15%, Gravebound Soul Fragments last +2 seconds, and Spiritcackle spawns 1 Spiteful Soulcoiler (was 2).
• Unlabelled: Malevolent Resonance damage −60% with no difficulty tag on the Blizzard line. Treat that carefully in briefings.
• Also on the page: October 30 housing, cloak and Labyrinth UI fixes; October 27 class tuning (Feral +5%, Resto Verdancy +60%, Subtlety −8%, Affliction UA +20%, Destruction RoF +20%) and a large PvP block. Covered briefly below for context.
• Not confirmed: exact new Blood Venom radius numbers, Tortollan rename list, and whether every Nov 5 line needed a realm restart. Check the official hotfix page before your next pull.

Blizzard's living Midnight hotfix page picked up a November 5, 2026 section overnight, and this one is aimed almost entirely at raid and delve friction rather than another class wall. The official entry is Hotfixes: November 5, 2026 (also mirrored on news.blizzard.com). Three Venomous Abyss encounters get Heroic and Mythic tuning, Shadowguard Point gets a Basilisk Blitz leave-and-rejoin fix, and several Tortollan NPCs got renamed.

If your guild is still working Heroic Coiled Altar or Mythic Twin Fangs this week, read the difficulty labels before you rewrite the raid plan. Most of the damage numbers are Mythic only. The movement and pool-scale changes hit a wider set of difficulties. That split is the whole point of this guide.

For the earlier Season 2 raid pass that cut Mythic Coiled Altar Phase 1 orbs and Virulent Mutations, see our October 13 Midnight hotfixes. For boss loot and progression framing, the Season 2 Venomous Abyss raid guide is still the inventory map. Class and PvP players who skipped the late-October notes will want our October 27 class tuning writeup, which already covers the Feral, Fire, Subtlety and Warlock lines that still sit on this same living page.

Everything in the November 5 hotfix block

Here is the full November 5 list as Blizzard published it, grouped so you can brief by role instead of scrolling past Labyrinth and housing lines.

That is the entire November 5 section. No class lines, no Mythic+ dungeon health cuts, no Labyrinth scenario entries, and no PvP combat changes dated November 5. Those older blocks are still on the same page and still in effect; they just are not the reason this article exists.

Heroic versus Mythic: read the labels first

Raid briefings fall apart when someone reads "20% Axegrinder nerf" and applies the damage cut to a Heroic pull. Blizzard was careful here. Use this split.

Applies on Heroic (and Mythic):

  • Entombed Sentinels: smaller maximum Blood Venom pool scale
  • Coiled Altar: Axegrinder movement speed −20% (all difficulties, so Heroic and Normal too)
Applies on Mythic only:
  • Entombed Sentinels: Blood Venom pool duration 2 minutes (was 5)
  • Twin Fangs: Visceral Burst damage −40%
  • Coiled Altar: Axegrinder damage −20%, Gloombomb damage −20%, Venom Rupture damage −15%
  • Coiled Altar: Gravebound Soul Fragments last +2 seconds
  • Coiled Altar: Spiritcackle summons 1 Spiteful Soulcoiler instead of 2
No difficulty label on the Blizzard line:
  • Coiled Altar: Malevolent Resonance damage −60%
If your group is Heroic only, do not rebuild add assignments around the Soulcoiler cut or the Visceral Burst number. You get clearer floor space at Sentinels and slower spinning axes at Coiled Altar. That is still meaningful. It is not the Mythic package.

Entombed Sentinels: smaller Blood Venom, shorter Mythic pools

Entombed Sentinels sits early in the Venomous Abyss progression path, and Blood Venom has been the room-control problem since Season 2 opened. On November 5 Blizzard hit that mechanic twice, with different scope on each line.

On Heroic and Mythic, the maximum scale of Blood Venom pools is reduced. Blizzard did not publish a new radius in yards. Keep your existing drop markers and soak lanes. After a clean pull, look at how much walkable floor you still have when the same number of pools is down, then decide whether you can tighten the drop zone or leave assignments alone.

On Mythic only, Blood Venom pool duration drops to 2 minutes (was 5 minutes). That is the bigger Mythic change. A five-minute pool meant the room filled for almost the whole fight once the first wave landed. Two minutes means late-fight space opens back up if your group survives the early overlapping set. Do not abandon the "drop here, move there" plan on the assumption that pools vanish instantly. Two minutes is still a long time in a raid fight. It just stops being a permanent wall.

What did not change at Sentinels: Blizzard did not list health cuts, tank-swap timing changes, or new add counts. If your wipe pattern was healers drowning under Visceral Burst later in the raid, this section will not fix that. If your wipe pattern was "we ran out of floor," November 5 is aimed at you.

Twin Fangs: Visceral Burst −40% on Mythic

Twin Fangs gets one line, and it is loud. Visceral Burst damage reduced by 40% on Mythic difficulty.

Forty percent is not a soft trim. Relative to the previous hit, that leaves 60% of the old damage on the named ability. Healing coverage around the Burst window should feel less like a hard check and more like a planned raid cooldown. Keep the same soak or spread assignment until you see the new numbers on your meters. Healers who were pre-potting or chaining externals for every Burst can test dropping one cooldown tier after a stable kill.

Nothing else on Twin Fangs changed in this block. Normal and Heroic Visceral Burst are untouched. If you are farm Heroic Twin Fangs already, skip ahead to Coiled Altar.

The Coiled Altar: axes, bombs, rupture, fragments and Soulcoilers

Coiled Altar takes most of the November 5 ink, which tracks with how many guilds are still progressing it. Treat the changes as three buckets: movement on every difficulty, Mythic damage cuts, and Mythic add or fragment timing.

Axegrinder: slower on every difficulty, softer on Mythic

Axegrinder movement speed reduced by 20% on all difficulties. Spinning axes travel slower through the room. That helps orb carriers and anyone kiting Manifestations of Dread, because the ricochet paths stay dangerous for longer but arrive later. Keep the orb collection point clear. Do not stand in the old "safe gap" if your group has been hugging axe paths on the assumption that speed would clear them. Slower axes can still sit on a lane.

Separately, Axegrinder damage reduced by 20% on Mythic. Heroic tanks and melee do not get that damage cut. Brief it that way. All-difficulty movement, Mythic-only damage.

Gloombomb and Venom Rupture: Mythic damage only

Gloombomb damage reduced by 20% on Mythic. Venom Rupture damage reduced by 15% on Mythic.

These sit in the same overlap windows that already got lighter after the October 13 Phase 1 orb and Virulent Mutation cuts. Keep planned orb clears and healing assignments. Use the first Mythic pull after the hotfix to measure whether Rupture overlaps still force a major defensive, or whether you can save that cooldown for Malevolent Resonance mistakes.

Malevolent Resonance: −60%, no difficulty tag

This is the line that needs the most careful briefing language. Blizzard wrote: Malevolent Resonance damage reduced by 60%. There is no "on Mythic" or "on Heroic and Mythic" qualifier on that sentence.

Community writeups such as WoW Auditor's November 5 breakdown correctly flag the missing label. Until Blizzard amends the post, assume the cut could apply wherever Malevolent Resonance deals damage, and verify on your own difficulty. Mechanically, the ability still punishes Manifestations of Dread touching each other. Separation remains the correct response. The nerf reduces the punishment for a near-miss. It does not make stacking Manifestations a strategy.

Gravebound Soul Fragments: +2 seconds on Mythic

Gravebound Soul Fragments last an additional 2 seconds before fading away on Mythic. That is breathing room for personal fragment pickup, not a free pass. Players still need to collect their own fragments. The extra two seconds mainly help when a knockback, axe path or orb soak delayed the pickup by a heartbeat.

Spiritcackle Soulcoilers: Mythic now matches Heroic

The number of Spiteful Soulcoilers that spawn from Spiritcackle reduced to 1 on Mythic (was 2). Developers' note: with this change, Soulcoilers now spawn similarly to how they spawn on Heroic.

Assign one player (and a backup) to the remaining Soulcoiler. Drop the second add assignment from your Mythic sheet. Do not assume total add count across the whole fight dropped by half of every other add type. This only changes Spiteful Soulcoilers from Spiritcackle.

Taken with the October 13 Coiled Altar package (fewer Phase 1 orbs, fewer Virulent Mutations, wider Manifestation stun angle, slower Eternal Nightfall), Mythic Coiled Altar is in a noticeably different place than it was on 12.1.5 launch week. Heroic gets the slower axes and whatever Malevolent Resonance scope Blizzard intended, but not the Soulcoiler or fragment timing gifts.

Shadowguard Point: Basilisk Blitz leave fix

Outside the raid, November 5 fixes a Delve bug that was genuinely nasty.

In the Basilisk Blitz variant of Shadowguard Point, leaving the delve while travelling between waygates could change your appearance and make you hostile to otherwise friendly units. That is fixed.

If you or a guildmate got stuck looking wrong and tagged as enemy after a mid-waygate disconnect or intentional leave, re-enter after the hotfix and the old hostility state should not reapply from that travel path. Blizzard did not list other Shadowguard Point variants in this block, so treat the fix as Basilisk Blitz specific.

Tortollan NPC names

Blizzard updated the names of several Tortollan NPCs. The hotfix line does not list the old or new names. Quest helpers, weak auras that key off NPC name strings, and guide screenshots may be stale until addon authors and atlas maintainers catch up. If a Tortollan objective looks "missing," check whether the NPC was renamed rather than despawned.

What this means for your next raid night

Heroic progression guilds

Update two sentences in the Discord brief:

  • Sentinels Blood Venom pools should leave more usable floor at max scale.
  • Coiled Altar axes move 20% slower on every difficulty.
Leave Mythic Soulcoiler and Visceral Burst notes out of the Heroic channel so nobody rewrites an add plan that never applied.

Mythic progression guilds

Rewrite the Coiled Altar add sheet for one Soulcoiler per Spiritcackle. Keep a backup killer. Tell healers Visceral Burst is 40% softer and Rupture, Gloombomb and Axegrinder hits are trimmed. Tell everyone fragments linger two seconds longer. Then run one pull focused on measuring Malevolent Resonance, because that line still lacks a difficulty tag in the official post.

Farm and parse groups

If you already kill Mythic Twin Fangs and Coiled Altar on farm, these nerfs mainly change heal cooldown economy and how greedy you can be on axe lanes. Do not throw away a clean strat for a 2% parse. Re-time cooldowns after one stable kill.

Delve and world players

Basilisk Blitz travellers and Tortollan quest checkers are the non-raid audience for November 5. Everyone else can ignore the new section until raid night.

Also still on the living page: October 30 and October 27

The November 5 article title sits on top of a living page that still holds every prior Midnight hotfix back through mid-October. You do not need a full reprint here, but two older blocks matter for players who only read the newest date stamp.

October 30: housing, cloaks, Labyrinth UI

  • Housing: tracking the source for the Nagrand plant decor sold by Botanist Gril'ka in Nagrand now properly leads to her location.
  • Items: Azshara's Darkscale Cloak and Azshara's Deepscale Cloak were adjusted to resolve a dividing line visible under specific lighting.
  • Labyrinth: Voices of Stone bonus objective in Bear's Burden no longer sticks on the UI; The Wandering Tether icons no longer flicker erratically.

October 27: class tuning and the big PvP pass

This is the block our October 27 class tuning guide already covers in detail. Short version for anyone who skipped it:

PvE-facing (several lines explicitly do not affect PvP):

  • Feral Druid: all damage +5% (not PvP)
  • Restoration Druid: Verdancy healing +60%, Regrowth +10%, Improved Swiftmend 40% (was 30%); all not PvP. Dev note: aimed at 5-person burst healing, not raid
  • Marksmanship Hunter: Trick Shots ricochet 85% (was 75%); Explosive Shot +10%; Volley +10%
  • Fire Mage: all damage +5% (not PvP)
  • Mistweaver: Mistline lowest-health target fix
  • Subtlety Rogue: all ability damage −8%; Trickster Fazed 5% (was 7%). Dev note: 12.1.5 compensation overshot, and Trickster got more from the patch than Deathstalker
  • Affliction: Unstable Affliction +20% (not PvP)
  • Destruction: Rain of Fire +20%
PvP combat highlights from the same October 27 section:
  • Unholy San'layn Vampiric Strike −20% in PvP
  • Devourer Collapsing Star +20% in PvP
  • Preservation Chronowarden Chronal Dynamo and Reverberations buffs in PvP
  • Marksmanship Kill Shot +40%, Deathblow Aimed Shot chance 25%, Dark Ranger Black Arrow +40% in PvP
  • Fire Mage all damage −5% in PvP
  • Frostfire Meteor and Duality Pyroblast +20% in PvP
  • Mistweaver Conduit of the Celestials Celestial Conduit +35% and Strength of the Black Ox absorb +25% in PvP
  • Holy Paladin all healing +5%; Divine Favor Holy Light mana reduction 50% (was 30%) in PvP
  • Holy Priest: Prayerful Litany primary target bonus 75% (was 125%), Prayer of Healing +30%, Archon Resonant Energy 4% per stack (was 2%), Empowered Surges 10% (was 5%), Realized Potential Flash Heal 25% (was 20%) in PvP
  • Assassination Deathstalker Mark and Hunt Them Down +20%; Darkest Night next Eviscerate 15% (was 8%) in PvP
  • Restoration Shaman Healing Stream and Stormstream Totem healing +20% in PvP
October 27 also fixed tabards hiding the Rexxar armor set and restored Great Vault credit for some Labyrinth scenarios. Older Labyrinth, Hallow's End, Conquest uncapping and Spoils of War lines from October 20 through 26 remain on the same page; our October 15 to 21 hotfixes guide covers the Kinduru exit, Jan'alai Tear stacks, Mistcrest uncapping and Spoils of War window if you need that history.

What is not in the November 5 section

Useful negatives, so you do not over-brief:

  • No Season 2 Mythic+ dungeon health or damage cuts dated November 5
  • No Sszorak changes (the Mythic rage timer trim is still the October 13 line)
  • No Kith'ix, Aqir Invasion or Classic Retail crossover notes in the November 5 block
  • No new class or PvP combat numbers dated November 5
  • No published list of which Tortollan NPCs were renamed
  • No yardage number for the new Blood Venom maximum scale
If a Discord ping claims "full raid nerf across the board," point them at the difficulty column. Twin Fangs and most Coiled Altar damage lines are Mythic. Sentinels pool scale and Axegrinder movement are the broad ones.

Your login checklist

  • Open Hotfixes: November 5, 2026 and confirm no newer dated section appeared after you started reading this.
  • Update the raid sheet with Heroic and Mythic columns separated. Do not merge Axegrinder movement with Axegrinder damage.
  • Mythic Coiled Altar: cut the second Soulcoiler assignment; keep a backup.
  • Mythic healers: re-time Visceral Burst and Venom Rupture cooldowns after one pull.
  • Sentinels: keep drop markers; reassess floor space after pools hit max scale.
  • Delvers: Basilisk Blitz waygate leave should no longer brick appearance and friendliness.
  • Questing: Tortollan name strings may not match old screenshots.
Soft reminder for guilds still filling a Mythic bench: AccountShark tracks Season 2 ready characters and boosts when you need a specialist for a locked boss, but the hotfix itself is free. Spend the week measuring the new numbers before you buy time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What did the WoW Midnight November 5 hotfixes change?

The November 5, 2026 section tunes three Venomous Abyss encounters, fixes a Shadowguard Point Basilisk Blitz delve bug, and updates several Tortollan NPC names. Entombed Sentinels Blood Venom pools get a smaller maximum scale on Heroic and Mythic, and a 2-minute duration on Mythic (was 5). Twin Fangs Visceral Burst damage drops 40% on Mythic. Coiled Altar gets slower Axegrinders on all difficulties plus Mythic damage, fragment and Soulcoiler cuts.

Do the Venomous Abyss nerfs apply to Heroic or only Mythic?

Both, but not the same lines. Heroic and Mythic share the smaller Blood Venom maximum scale. All difficulties get Axegrinder movement speed −20%. Mythic alone gets the Blood Venom duration cut, Visceral Burst −40%, Axegrinder and Gloombomb damage −20%, Venom Rupture −15%, Gravebound Soul Fragments +2 seconds, and one Spiteful Soulcoiler from Spiritcackle instead of two. Malevolent Resonance −60% has no difficulty label in Blizzard's post.

What changed on The Coiled Altar on November 5?

Axegrinder axes move 20% slower on every difficulty. On Mythic, Axegrinder and Gloombomb damage each drop 20%, Venom Rupture drops 15%, Gravebound Soul Fragments last two extra seconds, and Spiritcackle spawns one Spiteful Soulcoiler instead of two (now matching Heroic). Malevolent Resonance damage is reduced by 60% with no difficulty tag listed.

What is the Twin Fangs hotfix?

Only one Twin Fangs line appears on November 5: Visceral Burst damage reduced by 40% on Mythic difficulty. Normal and Heroic are unchanged in this block.

What is the Entombed Sentinels Blood Venom change?

Two lines. Maximum pool scale is reduced on Heroic and Mythic. Pool duration is reduced to 2 minutes on Mythic only (was 5 minutes). Blizzard did not publish the new maximum radius in yards.

What is Malevolent Resonance, and why is that nerf special?

Malevolent Resonance is the Coiled Altar damage tied to Manifestations of Dread interacting poorly when they touch. Blizzard cut its damage by 60% but did not label the difficulty. Keep Manifestations separated, and verify the new damage on your own mode until the official post is clarified.

Did November 5 change any classes or PvP?

No new class or PvP combat lines are dated November 5. The large class and PvP pass still on the same living page is dated October 27 (Feral +5%, Resto Verdancy +60%, Subtlety −8%, Affliction UA +20%, Destruction Rain of Fire +20%, plus the PvP combat block). See our October 27 guide for that package.

What was fixed in Shadowguard Point?

In the Basilisk Blitz variant, leaving the delve while travelling between waygates could change your appearance and make you hostile to friendly units. That issue is fixed.

Were Tortollan NPCs renamed?

Yes. Blizzard updated the names of several Tortollan NPCs. The hotfix does not list which names changed.

Is Sszorak nerfed again on November 5?

No. The Mythic Sszorak change that adds 5 seconds before 100 rage is still the October 13 entry. November 5 does not touch Sszorak.

Do I need a realm restart for these hotfixes?

Blizzard's living hotfix preamble says some hotfixes take effect immediately and others may require scheduled realm restarts. The November 5 section does not mark which lines needed a restart. If a change is missing on your realm, wait for the next maintenance window or confirm on the official page.

Where should I read the official notes?

Primary source: Hotfixes: November 5, 2026 on worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com. Useful difficulty-focused breakdowns include WoW Auditor and the structured patch view on Nerf Radar.

Sources

November 5 is a precision raid pass, not a season reset. Heroic gets clearer Sentinels floor space and slower Coiled Altar axes. Mythic gets those plus real damage and add relief on Twin Fangs and Coiled Altar. Separate those columns in the brief, measure Malevolent Resonance yourself because Blizzard left the difficulty off that line, and keep an eye on the living page in case a November 6 section lands before your next lockout.
