WoW Forever Beta Warrior Updates Build 70205 (Oct 3): Fury Pathing, Rage & Prot Tree
QUICK ANSWER · Forever Beta · Warrior Build 70205
• Build 70205 (Oct 3): Kaivax posted a full Fury + Protection Warrior pass after a Dual Wield Spec hit bug forced retests.
• Rage: crit strike Rage gen → 100% (was 75%). New Lingering Rage (R2). Bloodthirst AP ratio → 45% (was 35%).
• Fury pathing: Flurry now requires Death Wish (not Enrage). New Furious Precision (OH hit) and Gore Drinker (R6). WW always both weapons. Berserker Rage at 30.
• Protection: Iron Will → R1 Prot; Toughness removed; tree shuffled for a clearer non-shield PvP secondary path.
• Arms: still waiting — no Arms changes in this blue post.
• Files note: ForeverDB also lists ~124 new low-level Rare/Uncommon items in 70205 (not the class focus).

World of Warcraft: Forever beta build 1.60.1.70205 is live, and the headline for October 3 is not another dungeon unlock — it is a real Warrior redesign pass. Community Manager Kaivax posted Warrior Updates in Today’s Beta Build after a Dual Wield Specialization hit bug forced Blizzard to retest Fury numbers. Forever Codex’s 70170→70205 diff mirrors the blue-post list, and ForeverDB’s file note adds that the client also gained about 124 new low-level Rare and Uncommon items while class/spell rows stayed server-side.

If you are a Fury or Protection tester sitting at the level-30 cap, this is a same-day respec brief: what changed, which talents got deleted, which new rows you should click first, and why Arms players are still waiting in the forums. Cross-read with the Oct 1 patch notes / Excavation Site Wetlands unlock, the Excavation Site dungeon guide, and the pre-purchase / Nov 4 launch guide if you are still deciding how deep to push beta characters before launch.

Why this build exists (the Dual Wield Spec bug)

Kaivax leads with the bug that forced the pass:

  • Additional Rage generated from landing Critical Strikes increased to 100% increased Rage (was 75%).
  • Fixed a bug that was causing Dual Wield Specialization to grant its increase to Hit Chance to both weapons.
Developers’ notes are unusually blunt: because of that bug, their tests needed correcting, so they did another pass on Fury Warrior. That is the framing for everything below. You are not looking at a tiny hotfix. You are looking at Blizzard admitting the previous Fury tuning was measured against a broken hit rule, then rebuilding pathing, Rage toys, and a few core ratios on top of the fix.

For dual wielders, the practical takeaway is immediate. Off-hand hit is no longer secretly riding Dual Wield Spec the way it was. The new Furious Precision talent exists specifically to put intentional OH hit back into the tree. If your old sheet assumed free hit on both hands, rebuild the sheet.

Fury: goals, deleted nodes, and the new early tree

Developers’ goal for Fury

Kaivax’s Fury note says the goal is to give Fury more access to utility and meaningful choices early in the tree for leveling, and to free up points later so players are not forced to path into Enrage just to reach Flurry.

That sentence is the whole design thesis. Old Fury felt like a tunnel: pay Enrage tax, unlock Flurry, then finally make build choices. New Fury tries to move Flurry behind Death Wish instead, open early rows for leveling tools, and leave later rows for real decisions.

Booming Voice rework

Booming Voice is now a 10/20/30/40/50% increase to the area of effect of your Shouts and a 5/10/15/20/25% reduction to their Rage costs. That is a shout-support / economy talent, not a pure damage node. Forum testers are already arguing about whether five points for a few Rage saved is worth it outside niche PvP. Test it on your own shout usage before you copy a theorycraft dump — the blue post only defines the numbers.

Unbridled Wrath and two-handers

Unbridled Wrath no longer grants twice as much Rage to two-handed weapons. If you were parking a 2H Fury experiment on the old double-Rage rule, that experiment just got nerfed on purpose. Dual wield is the intended Rage story again.

New: Lingering Rage (Row 2)

Lingering Rage is a new Row 2 Fury talent. It increases the time before your Rage begins to decay when leaving combat by 2/4/6/8/10 seconds.

This is the leveling / pull-chain talent the early tree needed. Forever’s open-world pace — see our leveling guide and camping guide — rewards holding Rage between packs. Lingering Rage is the blunt answer. Rank it while you are still below the late-tree toys and see how much less often you walk into a pull at zero.

Forum chatter already compares Lingering Rage to Anger Management. Kaivax did not merge them. For now, treat them as separate buttons and report whether both feel mandatory.

Blood Craze change

Blood Craze no longer activates off of Bloodthirst casts. If your sustain loop assumed Bloodthirst → Blood Craze proc, rewrite the loop. Bloodthirst itself got a damage buff (below), but the free heal rider is gone.

Removed: Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage

Both Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage have been removed. Points that used to live there need a new home. Do not leave dead ranks on a copied Classic-era sheet.

New: Furious Precision (Row 3)

Furious Precision is a new Row 3 Fury talent. It increases your chance to hit with off-hand attacks by 4/7/10%.

This is the intentional replacement for the Dual Wield Spec double-dip. Put points here if you care about OH uptime. Combined with Dual Wield Spec no longer granting OH hit (below), Furious Precision is now the dedicated off-hand hit row.

Raging Blows and Whirlwind

Two linked changes:

  • Raging Blows now reduces the Rage cost of your Cleave and Whirlwind abilities by 3.
  • Raging Blows no longer causes Whirlwind to strike with your off-hand. Whirlwind will now always strike with both weapons without requiring a talent point.
That is a big quality-of-life and pathing win. WW dual-wield behavior is baseline. Raging Blows becomes a Rage-discount AoE node instead of a “please let my WW hit twice” tax.

Dual Wield Spec no longer grants OH hit

Dual Wield Specialization no longer grants hit to your off-hand attacks. Pair this with Furious Precision. The bug fix and the talent redesign are one system.

Flurry pathing: Death Wish required, Enrage not required

This is the structural change every Fury tester should re-path around today:

  • Enrage is no longer required to reach Flurry.
  • Death Wish is now required to reach Flurry.
You can finally stop paying the Enrage tax just to unlock the haste node. You do still need Death Wish on the path. Respec with that spine first, then decide whether Enrage is still worth it for its own effects and for Gore Drinker.

New: Gore Drinker (Row 6)

Gore Drinker is a new Row 6 Fury talent that requires Enrage. Your Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish, and Bloodthirst abilities cause your next 3 melee attacks to restore 0.5/1% of your maximum Health.

That is a sustain package tied to the Enrage side of the tree. If you skipped Enrage to rush Flurry under the old rules, the new tree both frees Flurry and re-sells Enrage as the Gore Drinker key. Test whether the heal is noticeable in Excavation Site Wetlands and open-world chains before you call it mandatory.

Improved Berserker Rage and Berserker Rage level

  • Improved Berserker Rage moved to Row 5 of Fury (was Row 6).
  • Berserker Rage is now available at level 30 (was 32).
With the beta cap at 30, that level change matters immediately. You can train Berserker Rage at cap now instead of staring at a 32 requirement. Improved Berserker Rage sitting earlier also frees Row 6 for Gore Drinker experiments.

Bloodthirst Attack Power ratio

Bloodthirst’s Attack Power ratio has been increased to 45% (was 35%).

That is a clean throughput buff on the button that no longer feeds Blood Craze. Expect Bloodthirst to feel heavier in the priority even if your heal loop changed.

Protection: non-shield PvP secondary path

Developers’ goal for Protection

Kaivax’s Protection note says the goal is to give non-shield users a clear path to the middle of the tree, where Protection could serve as a PvP tech secondary specialization, with more access to Improved Bloodrage, Iron Will, Improved Disarm, Last Stand, and Improved Shield Bash.

Read that carefully. This is not “Prot tank got 20% more mitigation.” This is “Prot should be a reachable secondary tree for warriors who want PvP tools without living in a shield.”

Protection tree moves (exact Kaivax list)

  • Iron Will moved to Row 1 of Protection (was Row 2 of Fury).
  • Anticipation moved to Row 2 (was Row 1).
  • Toughness has been removed.
  • Improved Bloodrage moved to Row 1 (was Row 2).
  • Improved Revenge moved to Row 2 (was Row 3).
  • Improved Disarm moved to Row 3 (was Row 4).
  • Improved Shield Bash moved to Row 4 (was Row 5).
The early rows now front-load Iron Will and Improved Bloodrage. Anticipation slid down a row. Toughness is gone — do not look for it. Disarm and Shield Bash improvements arrive earlier than before, which is exactly what a PvP dip wants.

If you were deep Prot as a primary tank, re-check whether Toughness’s removal changes your physical damage plan and whether the earlier utility nodes compensate. If you were Arms/Fury dabbling in Prot for PvP buttons, this tree is finally shaped for you.

What to respec and test today

Fury checklist

  • Confirm Dual Wield Spec is not giving free OH hit anymore.
  • Rank Furious Precision and measure actual off-hand hit.
  • Path Death Wish → Flurry without forcing Enrage.
  • Decide whether Enrage → Gore Drinker is worth the heal package.
  • Take Lingering Rage for open-world / dungeon pull chains and report Rage decay feel.
  • Retest Bloodthirst at 45% AP without Blood Craze procs.
  • Confirm Whirlwind hits with both weapons without Raging Blows, then decide if the −3 Rage discount is still a point sink.
  • Train Berserker Rage at 30 and move Improved Berserker Rage ranks to Row 5.

Protection checklist

  • Rebuild early rows around Iron Will and Improved Bloodrage at Row 1.
  • Remove any planned Toughness points.
  • Walk a non-shield PvP secondary path into Improved Disarm / Last Stand / Improved Shield Bash and note how many points it costs now.
  • Report whether Prot still feels like a tank tree first or a utility secondary first.

Arms reality check

Arms is not in this blue post. Forum replies under Kaivax’s thread are already asking when Arms gets a similar Rage pass. Do not invent Arms notes. If you main Arms, keep testing the current tree, keep logging Rage starvation, and wait for an official follow-up.

Build 70205 beyond Warrior (brief)

ForeverDB’s build 1.60.1.70205 file comparison says the client added 124 items, removed 0, and changed 0 existing item rows. Most additions are low-level Rare armour and weapons, with a few Uncommons and two Common quest items. Examples ForeverDB calls out include Avenger’s Armor, Belt of Vindication, Headbasher, Bloodspiller, Morbid Dawn, Energized Stone Circle, and Dun Garok Rifle, plus the above-cap Drakesfire Epaulets curiosity. Class, spell, talent, quest, and profession rows did not change in that file comparison — which matches Kaivax’s Warrior list living as server-side / blue-post development notes mirrored on Forever Codex.

If you are item hunting while you respec, treat the 124 new rows as a side quest, not the point of today’s patch.

How this fits the Forever beta timeline

Cap 30 went live on the October 1 maintenance with Excavation Site: Wetlands and the dungeon-quest XP brake — covered in our Oct 1 notes and dungeon guide. Build 70205 arrives two days later as a class-tuning beat, not a content beat. Beta testing still points toward the broader Forever launch window around November 4, 2026 (pre-purchase / beta access guide). Legacy Point planning, if you are optimizing long-term characters, still lives in the Legacy Points guide.

Warrior is finally getting the intentional Fury/Prot iteration the beta needed. Arms is next on the community wishlist. Log the bugs, log the Rage graphs, and do not soft-lock your feedback into “feels bad” without a before/after parse on Bloodthirst, WW, and off-hand hit.
