Havoc Demon Hunter is S-tier melee DPS in WoW Midnight. Guide to the Fury rotation, mobility toolkit, Aldrachi Reaver vs Fel-Scarred Hero Talents.
Spec Guide · WoW Midnight Season 1
Havoc Demon Hunter is one of four DPS specs in S-tier for Midnight Season 1. Havoc pairs the highest melee cleave ceiling in the game with the best mobility toolkit of any melee DPS —
Fel Rush,
Vengeful Retreat, and
Metamorphosis give Havoc players a mechanical answer for every M+ movement challenge and most raid mechanics. The Midnight redesign sharpened the Demonic ramp and rebuilt the Aldrachi Reaver hero tree around
Reaver's Glaive — a spec-defining proc button.
Why Havoc Sits in S-Tier
Havoc Demon Hunter is an S-tier melee DPS spec in WoW Midnight Season 1, with the best mobility toolkit of any melee class — Fel Rush, Vengeful Retreat, and Metamorphosis — paired with the highest sustained cleave ceiling outside of Demonology. The Aldrachi Reaver Hero Talent rebuilt around Reaver's Glaive is the default M+ pick, while Fel-Scarred is the raid-progression specialty.
The Midnight redesign tightened Demonic ramp, added Reaver's Glaive as the Aldrachi Reaver capstone, and rebalanced Fel-Scarred so Meta extensions feel meaningful again. Combined with a ~+5% baseline buff in the April 2026 patch, Havoc is firmly in S-tier across both M+ and raid.
Strengths
✓ Best mobility of any melee DPS —
Fel Rush +
Vengeful Retreat +
Metamorphosis
✓ High sustained cleave and burst AoE through
Blade Dance +
Eye Beam
✓ Strong raid utility —
Darkness is one of the best external DR cooldowns
✓ Double-leap mobility lets you skip mechanics other classes must tank
✓ Low-mana floor rotation — you're always casting
Weaknesses
✗ Fury management is unforgiving — overcapping is a significant DPS loss
✗ Demonic ramp has no damage during Meta setup (drops off cliffs feel bad)
✗ Single-target pure burn damage trails Demonology and Unholy DK
✗ Defensive kit is good for burst but limited for sustained pressure
✗ Fury spenders gate everything — generator starvation is the failure mode
How Does Havoc's Fury Resource System Work?
Fury
Primary resource · 120 cap
The one rule: Never overcap Fury. The rotation entirely hinges on smooth generator-to-spender conversion. If you're about to cap, cast a Chaos Strike even out of your priority order — capping Fury loses significantly more damage than skipping a proc window.
What Are Havoc's Core Abilities?
Your primary filler. Generates 20 Fury per cast. Cast whenever you're not capped on Fury and nothing higher-priority is up.

FURY GENERATOR · GAP CLOSER
30 Fury + leap to target. Use on cooldown when in range (always on for M+ trash). Your "I need Fury NOW" button.
Generates 20 Fury upfront + AoE damage over 6s. Cast on cooldown as a free Fury dump + cleave.
Primary single-target Fury spender. 40 Fury. 20% refund chance — the crit-refund loop is why Crit is king on Havoc.
35 Fury. 9-second CD AoE whirlwind. Your #1 AoE button on 3+ targets.
30 Fury. Channeled AoE beam that extends
Metamorphosis duration by 6 seconds (Demonic talent). This is how you maintain ~50% Meta uptime outside of burst.
Every 3-4 minutes on the builder tree, or chained down to ~30 seconds via Demonic. 30-second burst window where Chaos Strike upgrades to
Annihilation and Fury costs drop.
Two charges, each a forward leap dealing damage. Mobility + Fury generator hybrid. Use the first charge pre-pull.

What Is Havoc's Rotation Priority?
The priority table below is the sustained single-target / light-cleave rotation. Pull adjustments: on 3+ targets, push Blade Dance up to priority 2 and Immolation Aura up to priority 3.
| Priority | Ability | When & Why |
| 1 | Metamorphosis | On cooldown. Align with Bloodlust on pull and at every other available use. |
| 2 | Eye Beam | On cooldown with Demonic talented — extends Meta by 6s each cast. |
| 3 | Essence Break | 4-second damage amp window. Weave Chaos Strike / Blade Dance inside. |
| 4 | Blade Dance | On cooldown. First Blood talent makes it competitive even on single-target. |
| 5 | Felblade | On cooldown. Fury + gap-close. Always available for M+ trash swaps. |
| 6 | Immolation Aura | On cooldown. Free 20 Fury + cleave damage. |
| 7 | Chaos Strike / Annihilation | Primary Fury spender. Annihilation replaces Chaos Strike during Meta — same button, better damage. |
| 8 | Demon's Bite | Filler when nothing else is up. Fury generator — the "keep-moving" button. |
The Demonic Eye Beam loop: With Demonic talented, every
Eye Beam cast refunds 6 seconds of
Metamorphosis. Cast Eye Beam on cooldown inside Meta — this chains Meta uptime from 30 seconds to effectively 50%+ of the fight. The difference between a mediocre Havoc and a parsing Havoc is just Eye Beam discipline.
Why Is Havoc the Best Mobility DPS?
Havoc has three separate mobility tools, each with different use cases:
Two charges, each a forward leap. Forward only — can't redirect mid-air. The ideal gap-closer for predictable movement.
Backward leap + interrupts enemies in cone. Use for "oh no" moments or to pull adds to you.
Forward leap that drops Meta on landing — your "I'm running back from a wipe" emergency mobility.
Double-jump skip routes: Pro M+ players use Fel Rush + Vengeful Retreat combinations to skip entire trash packs that other melee classes must fight through. Learning these per-dungeon routes is the largest single skill gap on Havoc.
Which Hero Talent Should Havoc Pick?

Aldrachi Reaver
M+ / AOE PICK
Built around
Reaver's Glaive procs that activate after consecutive Chaos Strike / Blade Dance casts. The glaive throw itself does damage and spawns the Reaver's Mark detonation, making this the top M+ pushing build. Strong at all target counts but shines on 3+.

Fel-Scarred
RAID / SINGLE-TARGET PICK
Built around extending
Metamorphosis uptime and amplifying its burst. Demonsurge stacks during Meta turbo-charge your finishing moves. Best for single-target raid progression where Meta windows align with boss execute phases.
The quick pick: Aldrachi Reaver for M+ and most raid encounters — the Reaver's Glaive proc is strong at all target counts. Fel-Scarred is the specialty pick for single-target-focused Mythic raid bosses where Meta alignment with boss execute phases matters most.
What Utility Does Havoc Bring to a Group?
Group 20% miss-chance shield for 8 seconds. One of the best external raid cooldowns — save for boss AoE tantrum phases.
Personal 50% DR + dodge. Your primary defensive — use on tank-buster equivalents and M+ boss execute damage.
Interrupt. Standard M+ kick slot — 15s CD with talents, very fast rotation.
Long-duration single-target CC on humanoids, beasts, demons, undead. M+ pull control.
PBAoE 2-second stun. Shared CC contribution in M+ stun rotations.
AoE fear on a 1.5-minute CD. Situational but deadly on packs that heal or enrage.
AoE silence. Pair with interrupt rotations to lock down caster packs.
See-through-walls + stealth detection. Niche utility — useful for scouting in M+ routing.
The raid-spot guarantee: Darkness is one of the strongest external DR cooldowns in the game. Combined with
Disrupt reliability and top-tier damage, Havoc is a permanent roster slot on any raid progression roster through Season 1.
