How Do You Build a Shadow Dance Burst Window?
Every 60 seconds, you press Shadow Dance and chain the following sequence. Perfect execution is the difference between a 95th-percentile parse and a 60th-percentile parse.
STEP 1 · BUILD
Pre-build 3-5 combo points before pressing Dance. Don't enter Dance with 0 CP — you waste a global ramping up.
STEP 2 · DANCE
Press Dance. 6-second stealth window begins. Every following GCD goes into Shadowstrike unless a finisher caps.
STEP 3 · SHADOW BLADES
Pop Shadow Blades inside Dance. Every Shadowstrike now grants max combo points. You'll chain 2-3 Shadowstrikes into 2-3 finishers.
STEP 4 · SHADOWSTRIKE
Every in-Dance GCD goes into Shadowstrike. Applies Find Weakness instantly. Every additional Shadowstrike refreshes the armor-ignore window.
STEP 5 · SECRET TECHNIQUE
Fire Secret Technique at 5 CP inside the Dance window for the highest-damage single cast in the rotation.
STEP 6 · EVISCERATE
Close the window with a 5-CP Eviscerate. Inside Find Weakness, this lands for double damage. With Deathstalker, also grants a Darkest Night proc.
The single most important rule: Never enter a Shadow Dance window with 0 combo points. Pre-build at least 3 CP during the preceding 60 seconds. Walking into Dance with an empty CP bar means you spend the first global building instead of hitting a finisher — roughly a 15% damage loss on that window.

Built around Unseen Blade procs and the capstone Coup de Grace that replaces a normal finisher with a massive burst strike. Supporting talents like Nimble Flurry synergize with Shuriken Storm for cleave. Optimal for Mythic+ pushing, multi-target raid bosses, and AoE-heavy fights.
The quick pick: Deathstalker for raid progression and priority-kill fights (Crown of the Cosmos, L'ura add swaps, etc.). Trickster for Mythic+ pushes and AoE-heavy raid bosses. Both are viable — unlike Outlaw where Fatebound dominates, Sub's Hero Talents truly are content-dependent picks.

Solid M+ pick when you slot Trickster. Black Powder carries the AoE profile and armor-bypass through Find Weakness lets you cleave tanky trash packs. Not the absolute top M+ DPS — Demonology and Devourer still own that slot — but Sub is firmly in the competitive tier.

Subtlety brings the full rogue utility toolkit (identical to Outlaw and Assassination), with a few burst-window kicker options:
