Checked November 7, 2026. If you left a broken quest or dungeon behind during WoW: Forever's first two days, several are now worth revisiting. Blizzard's November 5 and 6 hotfixes address escort availability, missing loot, party quest drops, healing objectives and dungeon access. They also lower the Leatherworking Tanning Rack requirement from 140 to 125.
This is a return-to-content guide, not a starting-zone route or a claim that every launch problem is fixed. Its purpose is to answer a narrower question: which stalled objectives have an explicit fix, and what should you check before spending another trip on them?
The main source is Blizzard's November 6 hotfix log, including the November 5 entries. For unresolved problems, use the separate Known Issues thread updated November 5. The two pages do not always advance together, and one quest appears in both. Where they differ, that uncertainty is called out below.
First Decide Whether You Have a Quest Bug, a Missing Prerequisite or a Grouping Problem
A named fix only helps if it matches the failure you actually encountered. A quest item not appearing, an NPC not spawning and party members being on different layers can look similar from the player's side, but they are not the same issue.
Before traveling back, note:
- The exact quest name and your current objective.
- Whether you already completed a prerequisite or abandoned part of a chain.
- Whether the problem was an absent NPC, absent loot or missing credit.
- Whether everyone in your party can see the same enemies and objects.
- Whether the fix is in the dated hotfix log or merely discussed by players.
The Sleeper Has Awakened: The Horn Now Comes With the Quest
Blizzard made two improvements to Kerlonian Evershade's escort. He should fall asleep less often, and players now start with the Horn of Awakening needed to wake him when necessary.
The practical improvement is not just a faster escort. It also removes the uncertainty of starting the task without the item the escort expects you to use. If you previously postponed it because the sleep interruptions felt excessive or the horn was missing at the start, the log explicitly addresses those points.
Do not read “less often” as “never.” Keep the horn available and watch the escort rather than racing ahead on the assumption that the path has become automatic. Blizzard gives no new sleep interval, guaranteed completion time or changed reward in this note.
For characters already holding the quest from before the fix, the note does not describe retroactive item delivery. Check your bags and quest state first. If the horn is still missing, report that specific state rather than repeatedly abandoning the quest without knowing what progress will be lost.
Escorting Erland: Availability, Not a New Route
The November 5 hotfix makes Deathstalker Erland respawn much more quickly for Escorting Erland. That helps players waiting for the escort to become available after another group finishes or after a failed attempt.
It does not announce a shorter route, a new escort speed, changed enemy waves or a guarantee that multiple independent parties can start simultaneously. The confirmed change is the NPC's return time.
If your earlier problem was a long wait with no Erland to interact with, this is a reasonable quest to revisit. If your problem was missing credit after completion, the note does not explicitly say that issue has been repaired. Keep those reports separate so a hotfix to availability does not become an unsupported promise about every failure condition.
Vorsha the Lasher: A Fix and a Stale Warning Coexist
This quest needs more careful wording than “fixed, go do it.” The November 5 Known Issues thread says Vorsha the Lasher in Ashenvale was disabled until a crash-causing bug could be fixed. The November 6 hotfix log later says it resolved an issue with the quest “rudely lashing everyone in the zone.”
Those entries are related in subject but not identical in wording. The later hotfix confirms a quest-specific repair. It does not explicitly say in that sentence that every region has re-enabled the quest or that the older Known Issues entry has been removed.
Our recommendation is to check availability if you are already nearby, rather than making a long detour solely on the assumption that the disabled notice has been rescinded. If you can accept and complete it, that is useful live evidence for your character. If it remains unavailable, cite both dated entries in a bug report.
The important reporting distinction is simple: Blizzard published a fix on November 6, while the separate known-issues page we checked still carried its earlier disabled warning. We are not declaring a global re-enable that the sources do not explicitly establish.
Rediscovering the Light: Healing NPCs Should Count Correctly
Blizzard resolved an issue where players were sometimes unable to heal NPCs during Rediscovering the Light. If you stalled because the intended healing interaction would not work, the hotfix directly names that problem.
It does not provide a new spell rank requirement, healing threshold or alternate target list. Follow the quest's own instructions rather than borrowing a workaround from an unrelated healing quest. If it still fails, record the NPC, the spell used, whether it produced any effect and whether the objective changed.
That information is more useful than “Paladin quest broken” because the repaired failure was specific. A problem accepting the quest or finding an NPC would be a different report from an inability to perform the heal.
Ammo for Rumbleshot: Consecutive Interactions Should Show Loot
For Ammo for Rumbleshot, the November 6 log fixes a situation where a player could not see loot when interacting immediately after another player.
This is particularly relevant during launch congestion, when several people reach the same objective in quick succession. If your first interaction appeared empty after someone else used it, that now has an explicit repair in the log. It is not evidence that you necessarily missed an obscure prerequisite.
Blizzard does not say every loot object is now personal, that all objects respawn instantly or that all quests use the same sharing rules. The fix names this quest and this timing problem. Retrying the intended interaction is reasonable; extrapolating it into a universal loot-system change is not.
Riverglades: Party Drops and Krek's Loot
Riverglades has two separate corrections on November 6. Some quest item drops were not being shared by players in a party, and Krek the Noxious did not have the correct loot when defeated.
The party fix matters if your group killed the required enemies together but not everyone could progress. Check every member's quest objective after returning, rather than assuming the leader's completed counter proves the whole party finished. The note says some quest item drops, not every item in the zone.
Krek's fix is a loot correction, not a published increase to every reward's drop chance. Blizzard gives no revised loot table or guaranteed rare-item reward in this log. If you killed Krek earlier and saw an empty or incorrect result, the reason to revisit is the named repair, not a rumor about a new farm.
Keep the two changes separate when helping guildmates. A repaired named enemy's loot does not prove a party-sharing bug is solved for every other quest, and repaired quest sharing does not mean every boss drop becomes available to every player.
Never Saddle on Quality and the Damp Note
For Never Saddle on Quality, Blizzard says both spawns and quest item drops should now be more plentiful. This addresses two possible bottlenecks: finding the required targets and getting the required item after defeating or interacting with them.
No exact spawn timer or drop percentage is supplied. A short unlucky sequence does not by itself prove the hotfix failed, but neither should a guide promise a guaranteed item on the next attempt. The confirmed improvement is directional, not numerical.
The Damp Note also has an increased drop rate. The note does not name a new percentage or explain an additional chain prerequisite. If you already know the relevant source from the quest or item you are pursuing, this is a reason to reconsider a stalled attempt. It is not enough evidence to invent a new farming route or tell every character to hunt for it.
Enemy Fixes That Change Whether a Return Trip Is Worthwhile
Several smaller corrections matter when the quest itself was not the real problem:
- Yarrog Baneshadow in Durotar: November 5 fixes a respawn that was slower than intended. Blizzard gives no exact replacement timer.
- Ridgeshade Lurkers in Durotar: November 6 gives them loot correctly. This is not an announced universal drop-rate increase for Durotar enemies.
- Pelluk in Swamp of Sorrows: the log addresses cases where the NPC would not spawn. The entry appears in the hotfix coverage for this period; it should not be counted as two separate new NPCs or rewards.
- Grol'bolar Quarry troggs in Dun Morogh: respawns were too quick and have been corrected. A route based on a constant flood of replacements may no longer behave the same way.
- Dustwallow Marsh murlocs: some were respawning too quickly and were corrected on November 5.
- Teldrassil lashers: Lasher Sproutlings, Blooming Lashers and Wrathvine were incorrectly immune to Nature damage. The November 6 correction matters especially if your attacks seemed inexplicably ineffective.
Ruins of Lordaeron: Unending Torment at Level 15
The Abomimable Head, as spelled in Blizzard's hotfix log, drops from The Baron in Ruins of Lordaeron. It should now offer Unending Torment to Horde players at level 15 rather than 16.
That is a concrete threshold correction. Blizzard's official dungeon overview places Ruins of Lordaeron in the 15 to 20 bracket, so an item-started quest blocked until 16 was an awkward mismatch for a group entering at the lower end.
If you already have the head, check whether it now offers the quest before assuming you need another drop. The hotfix does not promise compensation for a discarded item or say the quest is now available to both factions. Its explicit change concerns Horde players and the level requirement.
This is not a complete Ruins of Lordaeron quest checklist. Outdoor prerequisites for other quests remain separate questions. Do not treat the level correction to one head-started quest as removal of every prerequisite in the dungeon.
Maraudon, Blackmaw Hold and The Drowned City
Three dungeon fixes can save a group from repeating an apparently broken run.
Maraudon: Zaetar's Spirit could fail to spawn after Princess Theradras was defeated. Blizzard says that failure is fixed. The note addresses the post-boss NPC spawn, not a newly added boss or a changed fight strategy.
Blackmaw Hold and The Drowned City: some creatures could erroneously disengage. The fix should help groups whose enemies reset unexpectedly during ordinary encounters. Blizzard does not identify every affected creature, so avoid claiming a particular boss mechanic was removed unless another source establishes it.
The Drowned City: its instance portal should correctly teleport players inside. If your earlier trip ended at a portal that would not work, this is the most direct reason to try again.
The official dungeon overview places The Drowned City offshore west of Grom'gol in Stranglethorn Vale, with an underwater entrance, in the 35 to 40 bracket. Blackmaw Hold is in Azshara in the 55 to 60 bracket. These location and bracket facts come from Blizzard's overview, not newly invented unlock requirements. The hotfixes repair access and behavior; they do not announce these dungeons as newly unlocked on November 6.
Leatherworking: The Tanning Rack Gate Moves to 125
The Tanning Rack skill requirement is now 125, down from 140. Blizzard explains that the old threshold was obstructing Leatherworking patterns requiring 125 skill. It also lowers the rack's skill-up thresholds by 15 skill points to account for the change.
For a crafter stuck in that gap, check the rack requirement again before purchasing enough materials to push all the way to 140. The hotfix removes that particular mismatch. It does not say every pattern requires only 125, every rack blueprint is free or the materials for all affected crafts have changed.
The broader camping guide explains why profession objects matter. This new threshold is the post-launch correction to use when planning around the rack, rather than an older guide's generic assumption about advanced crafting gates.
Zephras Services and Small Vendor Changes
Lotheluum Starbreeze now offers Druid training as expected, and Zephras Isle trade supply vendors now sell apprentice tradeskill bags. Both are November 5 fixes. If your earlier trip found the service missing, revisit the correct NPC before assuming you need to leave the island for it.
Mild Spices now sell to vendors for 1 copper each, down from 2 copper. That wording describes what vendors pay you. It should not be rewritten as an announcement that every vendor's purchase price was halved. Check the actual purchase price when budgeting a recipe.
The Sisterhood of Elune also has corrected text. Blizzard does not describe an associated change in objective count, rewards or unlock conditions. A text correction is useful, but it is not evidence for a whole redesigned chain.
Group Visibility Is Improved, Not Universally Solved
November 6 brought improvements to seeing other players and their targets across relatively large distances. That does not explicitly say every party-layer problem is resolved.
In the official grouping discussion, Kaivax asks players whether the blue notification appears after joining a party, whether clicking it opens a prompt and whether Refresh Now places them together. Players in the thread report mixed results, including cases where the notification never appeared.
If your party cannot see the same enemies, record whether that notification and button exist for you. Do not mistake a quest-drop fix for a guaranteed layer synchronization fix. For account access and connection problems rather than objectives, use the launch troubleshooting article.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I abandon every quest that was broken at launch?
No. Blizzard has not published that as a universal recovery procedure. Match your failure to the named fix and inspect your current progress before discarding anything.
Does The Sleeper Has Awakened still require the Horn of Awakening?
The horn remains relevant. Blizzard says players now start with it and that Kerlonian falls asleep less often, not that sleeping has been removed entirely.
Is Vorsha the Lasher definitely enabled everywhere?
The November 6 log names a fix, but the earlier Known Issues thread still carries a disabled warning. We cannot establish a universal re-enable from those two entries alone.
What skill does the Tanning Rack require now?
The November 6 hotfix lowers the skill requirement from 140 to 125 and shifts its skill-up thresholds down by 15.
Can Horde players start Unending Torment at level 15?
Yes. Blizzard says the head dropped by The Baron should now offer that quest at level 15 rather than 16.
Did the new dungeons unlock on November 6?
No new unlock is announced in these hotfixes. The notes repair The Drowned City's portal, erroneous disengagement in two dungeons and a missing post-boss NPC in Maraudon.
