OSRS Gathering Efficiencies Guide: Gem Storage, Net Traps & Sept 30 Rollout
OSRS · Gathering Efficiencies
Rollout starts: September 30, 2026
Poll: Gathering Efficiencies lock-in
Already live (May 13): Gem Sack path + Mole instance
Confirmed Sept 30 examples: Net traps, Daeyalt Signet, log basket traps, compost state
Skills hit: Mining, Hunter, Farming + misc
Related live guide: Pet Sweep-Up (separate)

Jagex is finally finishing the Gathering Efficiencies package. The Summer Sweep-Up Pet Improvements & More newspost (September 16, 2026) says players should start seeing the remaining changes roll out from September 30, and it names concrete examples: stackable Net Traps, Celestial Signet applying to Daeyalt mining, logs from the log basket for deadfall and pitfall traps, and knowing a farming patch compost state without inspecting.

That sentence matters. The full poll package is not a single overnight dump of every question that passed in April. Some crown jewels already shipped. Others are still queued. This guide separates already live, confirmed for the Sept 30 wave, and still pending from the passed poll so you do not show up to a Hunter rumour expecting stackable nets in May, or skip Giant Mole because you thought the Gem Sack was "coming soon."

Primary sources for this write-up:

Pet minigame follow rules from the same Sweep-Up blog are covered separately in our OSRS pet improvements Gauntlet guide. This article stays on gathering QoL.

Already live: Gem storage path and Giant Mole (May 13)

Do not wait until September 30 for gem containers. The Gem Pouch / Satchel / Tote / Sack path and Immaculate Moleskin already launched on May 13, 2026 with the Sailing Changes and Gem Bag Expansion update.

Upgrade ladder (live)

  • Gem Pouch — Crafting 12; Linen + Thread + Silk; stores 5 each of Opal, Jade, Red Topaz
  • Gem Satchel — Crafting 39; Hemp + Thread + Silk + Gem Pouch; stores 10 each of those semi-precious gems
  • Gem Tote — Crafting 81; Cotton + Thread + Silk + Gem Satchel; stores 20 each
  • Gem Sack — Crafting 81; Gem Tote + existing Gem Bag + Immaculate Moleskin; stores 60 of all uncut gems up through Dragonstone (and 60 of the semi-precious set)
Sailing resources (linen, hemp, cotton) are intentional ingredients. You keep one progressive container at a time; gems carry into the upgraded container.

Immaculate Moleskin and the instance (live)

  • Immaculate Moleskin drops from Giant Mole at 1/50
  • Dupes can be handed to Wyson for 5 Bird Nest rolls
  • Optional Giant Mole instance costs 25,000 GP base
  • Hard Combat Achievements cut that to 12,500 GP
  • Ironman accounts pay half again (12,500 or 6,250 with Hard CAs)
If your only Gathering Efficiencies goal was inventory for gem rocks, you are late to a party that started in May. September 30 is about everything else that still clogged inventories and click patterns.

What Jagex confirmed for the Sept 30 wave

From the September 16 newspost, the remaining Gathering Efficiencies changes begin rolling out from September 30, including at least:

  • Stackable Net Traps
  • Celestial Signet Mining enhancer applying to Daeyalt shards (+1 chance on success)
  • Using logs stored in a log basket to build deadfall / pitfall traps
  • Seeing compost state on a farming patch without inspecting (official client / mobile indicator called out in the proposal; RuneLite users already had plugin options)
Jagex wording is "start seeing the remaining changes rolling out from September 30th," not "every outstanding poll question lands in one hotfix at midnight." Expect a wave, then follow-up coldfixes if something slips.

Mining package still rolling in

Beyond Signet-on-Daeyalt, the passed poll still includes these Mining QoL items that the wiki still lists as outstanding ahead of the Sept 30 window:

Infernal tools

  • Recharge Infernal Pickaxe / Harpoon / Axe with a Smoldering Stone even when charges remain (no more waiting for zero)
  • Toggle the Infernal burn effect off so the tool behaves like its Dragon equivalent when you want ore or fish instead of ashes

Runite Golems (Wilderness Resource Area)

  • Expert Mining Gloves depletion protection applies to Runite Golems the way it already does to Runite rocks
  • Extra ore chance on successful Golem mining scales with Wilderness Diary:
- Medium: up to 2 Runite ore - Hard: up to 3 - Elite: up to 4

Daeyalt / UIM

  • Claim noted Daeyalt Essence when turning in shards (huge for UIM who could not meaningfully interact with Daeyalt storage patterns)
  • Celestial Signet extra shard chance (named in the Sept 30 examples)
If you live in Daeyalt or Wilderness runite loops, September 30 is the date to re-check your loadout and diary progress before the buffs land.

Hunter: stackable Net Traps and failed-trap resets

Hunter is the loudest Sept 30 headline for most mid-game accounts.

Stackable Net Traps (confirmed in Sept 30 examples)

Per the proposal blog and poll (94.8% yes):

  • Level 29 Hunter to combine Rope + Small Fishing Net into a stackable Net Trap
  • Traps stack in inventory, store in the Huntsman's Kit, can be bought from Hunter shops, and can be traded
  • You cannot dismantle them back into Rope + Net
That ends the classic salamander rumour inventory tax where two ropes and two nets vanish the moment you alt-tab.

Failed trap reset behaviour (passed, pending)

Failed Net Traps (and other traps in the proposal) enter a failed trap state like Box Traps, so you can reset without picking components off the floor. Jagex also wants that reset-without-replace feel on more trap types while still letting tick-manipulation methods replace when preferred.

Log basket for deadfall / pitfall (confirmed in Sept 30 examples)

Build deadfall or pitfall traps using logs stored in a log basket. Inventory logs still consume first; the basket is backup so you are not sprinting tree-to-tree mid-rumour.

If you are holding a skilling account specifically for Hunter contracts, this is the update that removes the most "I forgot rope again" rage quits.

Farming QoL in the package

Farming questions passed across the board. Proposal highlights:

  • Tool Leprechaun Deposit-all
  • Seed Box default seed, then use the Seed Box on a patch to plant it
  • Dig up healthy growing plants the way herb patches already allow
  • Right-click Clear on cactus / potato cactus patches that still have produce waiting
  • Active Farming Contract seed pinned to the top of the Seed Vault
  • Sulphurous Fertiliser returns (Saltpetre + Compost) for Hosidius vine patches, targeting about +20% grape / Zamorak grape yield in the blog's example number
  • Official-client compost tier indicator without inspect (named again in the Sept 30 Sweep-Up examples)
Not every Farming bullet was repeated in the September 16 "including" list. Treat Deposit-all, default seed, dig-up, Clear, Seed Vault pin, and Sulphurous Fertiliser as passed poll package items still rolling with the Gathering Efficiencies wave unless a later newspost splits them.

Tackle Box, Law Altar, Fossils, Kingdom, and the rest

Assorted skilling QoL that passed and remains part of the unfinished list:

  • Store a Knife and Hammer in the Tackle Box for Sacred / Infernal Eels
  • Use bait directly from the Tackle Box while it is in inventory (96.5% yes)
  • Move the Law Altar portal closer (about 6–10 tiles in the blog) so Abyss runs feel like other altars
  • Remove Monks of Entrana blocking armour / weapons at the Law Altar itself (travel to Entrana via the altar still respects prohibited items) — 75.1% yes, the closest vote in the set
  • Fossil Storage Box deposits without a Bank PIN
  • Kingdom Management bonus resource rounding becomes partial-progress chance (example: 150 logs = 1 guaranteed nest + 50% chance at a second)
  • Poison Dynamite Nightshade cost 3 → 1
  • Wesley crushing coconuts into Coconut Milk
  • Un-note NPC near the Ancient Furnace on Grimstone for Sailing cannonball bars at 100 GP per bar
Trouver parchment rework and LMS shop integrity changes sat in the same April blog as unpolled / integrity proposals. They are not the Gathering Efficiencies Sept 30 headline; do not treat this guide as a Trouver patch note.

How to prep before September 30

Practical checklist grounded in what is already live versus what is coming:

  • Craft or finish your Gem Sack now if you still sit on a Gem Bag; Mole instance is already cheaper with Hard CAs / Iron discounts
  • Bank Rope and Small Fishing Nets so you can convert into stackable Net Traps the day they ship
  • Keep a log basket stocked if you run deadfall / pitfall rumours
  • Wear Celestial Signet on Daeyalt days once the enhancer applies
  • Finish Wilderness Diary tiers if you farm Runite Golems
  • UIM: clear inventory plans for noted Daeyalt turn-ins
  • Fishing mains: empty a Tackle Box slot for knife / hammer / bait once those land
  • Abyss runners: expect Law Altar portal + monk rule changes when that slice ships
If you are shopping for a ready skiller or a mid-game main with diaries done, a light look at AccountShark OSRS accounts is reasonable while you wait on the wave. This is not a Buy/Sell footer; it is one marketplace mention for players who would rather skip another month of diary grind before the Golem and Daeyalt buffs matter.

What this is not

  • It is not the pet Gauntlet / minigame follow update (already covered)
  • It is not a promise that every outstanding wiki bullet lands in one September 30 hotfix
  • It is not a Constructed meta guide, a botting clear, or a GP/hour sheet with invented rates
Use Jagex's newspost language: remaining Gathering Efficiencies changes start rolling out from September 30, with Net Traps, Signet Daeyalt, log-basket traps, and compost-state visibility called out as examples.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do the remaining Gathering Efficiencies changes come out?

Jagex's September 16, 2026 newspost says you should start seeing the remaining Gathering Efficiencies changes rolling out from September 30, 2026, including stackable Net Traps, Celestial Signet on Daeyalt mining, log-basket deadfall/pitfall construction, and compost state without inspecting.

Is the Gem Sack part of the September 30 update?

No. The Gem Pouch, Satchel, Tote, Sack, Immaculate Moleskin, and Giant Mole instance already released on May 13, 2026. September 30 is the remaining unfinished poll package.

How do stackable Net Traps work?

At Hunter 29, combine Rope and a Small Fishing Net into a stackable Net Trap. They stack, store in the Huntsman's Kit, can be shop-bought or traded, and cannot be dismantled back into components.

Does Celestial Signet work on Daeyalt today?

Not until that Mining enhancer change ships with the remaining Gathering Efficiencies rollout. Once live, successful Daeyalt mining can grant an extra shard chance from the Signet.

Will Infernal tools recharge before they hit zero charges?

That passed the poll (95.3%). It is part of the outstanding Mining list tied to this package. Confirm in patch notes when your world updates; do not assume it is live before you see it in-game.

Can I build pitfall traps from a log basket?

Yes once that change ships. Jagex named log-basket deadfall/pitfall construction as one of the September 30 rollout examples. Inventory logs are still consumed first.

Did the Law Altar monk restriction pass?

Yes, with 75.1% support — the weakest pass in the set. Weapons and armour should be allowed at the Law Altar itself, while Entrana travel rules still block prohibited items if you try to go to the island.

Are Trouver parchment changes included on September 30?

The April blog discussed a Trouver rework as an unpolled integrity proposal alongside Gathering QoL. This guide does not treat Trouver as a confirmed September 30 Gathering Efficiencies deliverable. Watch separate newsposts for that system.

Where should I read about the pet Sweep-Up changes?

Use our OSRS pet improvements Summer Sweep-Up Gauntlet guide. Pets into Gauntlet, invisible pets in other minigames, and death respawn following are that article's job.
