Monster Hunter Outlanders Launch Guide: Release Time, Servers, Weapons, All 13 Adventurers and Phone Requirements

• Released: October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (5:00 PM CT), which was October 29 in Asia
• Platforms: iOS and Android only, free to play with in-app purchases

• Mainland China: Scheduled for 2027 onward

Monster Hunter finally has a full hunting game built for phones. Monster Hunter Outlanders, developed by TiMi Studio Group under license from Capcom, launched worldwide on iOS and Android at the end of October. Capcom's own press release calls it "the latest mobile title in the Monster Hunter series" and positions it as a way to bring the brand to a wider mobile audience.

This is not a reskin of Monster Hunter Now. Outlanders is an open world survival hunting game set on a new island called Aesoland, with classic weapons, squads of up to four and a new Elder Dragon at the center of the story. It is free to play with in-app purchases, and its recruitment system is built around a roster of original Adventurers.

If you are deciding whether to download it this weekend, or you already have it and want to make sure you did not pick the wrong server, this guide covers everything confirmed by Capcom, the official Outlanders website and Garena's launch materials.

When Did Monster Hunter Outlanders Launch?

Capcom announced on September 29, 2026 that Outlanders would release on October 29, 2026. That date is the Asia side of the launch. Garena's launch FAQ lists the opening as October 29, 2026 at 06:00 (UTC+8), with all servers opening at the same time. That is the same moment as:

  • October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC
  • October 28, 2026 at 5:00 PM CT (6:00 PM ET, 3:00 PM PT)
  • October 29, 2026 at 7:00 AM in Japan
So if you are in the US and saw it go live on Wednesday evening, that is not an early release. The game simply launched in the Asian morning of the 29th.

Capcom's product details list the game as free to play with in-app purchases, on mobile devices only. The mainland Chinese version is scheduled for 2027 onward.

Which Version Should You Download? Level Infinite vs Garena

There are two publishers for Outlanders outside China, and that matters more than it sounds.

  • Level Infinite (Proxima Beta) runs the global version that most players in North America, Japan and Europe will see on their store. The official site, monsterhunteroutlanders.com, is run by Proxima Beta.
  • Garena publishes its own version. Garena's launch FAQ lists Korea, Asia Pacific, MidEast Africa and Latam servers, and its press release says it publishes the game in Southeast Asia.
Garena's FAQ is very clear on the rules, and players should take it seriously:
  • Server data is independent and cannot be transferred between regions.
  • Cross server teaming, friend requests and joining the same squad are not supported between regional servers.
  • If you want to play with friends, you need to create characters on the same server.
  • You can log in to the same account on different devices, but not at the same time.
In other words, before you tap through the first login, ask your group which server they are on. Restarting a week in because you wanted to join a friend's guild is the most common launch regret in region locked mobile games, and Outlanders has no transfer option right now.

Garena's FAQ lists Google, Apple, Facebook, Garena and Guest logins at launch. If you play as a Guest, bind the account to a real login as soon as you can, because a guest save tied to one device is easy to lose.

What Kind of Game Is Outlanders?

Capcom's product page lists the genre as Survival Hunting Action. The official site's pitch covers five pillars: a Capcom licensed hunting adventure with classic weapons and new skills, new Adventurers and companions, a new Radiant monster species, gathering resources and building facilities, and exploring changing landscapes.

Garena's launch release fills in the modes:

  • Main story that digs into the mysteries of Aesoland.
  • Free Hunt Mode for hunting monsters of varying difficulty.
  • Arena matches, where everyone fights on equal stats, so gear does not decide the result.
  • Limited events, starting with one built around the new Adventurer Midori.
You can hunt solo or form a party of up to four. Teammates who coordinate attacks and use cooperative skills deal extra damage, so this is a game that clearly wants you in a squad for the harder monsters.

The Story: Ruger Aidal and the Radiant Species

The flagship monster is Ruger Aidal, an original Elder Dragon that Garena describes as radiating an intense, sun like brilliance. It is the threat at the heart of the Aesoland story.

The other big addition is the Radiant species: familiar monsters mutated by Aesoland's environment and corrupted by a substance called Radiantite. The official site lists these at launch:

  • Radiant Rathian: much better mobility and more developed venom glands, with more ways to inject poison.
  • Radiant Anjanath: stronger flame breath, and it digs Radiantite out of the ground with its jaws to throw at you.
  • Radiant Diablos: reinforced horns that pulverize rock, so hiding behind terrain does not save you.
  • Radiant Kulu-Ya-Ku: stronger forelegs that sense buried Radiantite and dig it up to use as weapons.
  • Radiant Rathalos: near molten flames, described as an absolute sovereign of its domain.
Classic versions are on the list too, including Rathalos, the King of the Skies, and Pink Rathian, the subspecies that uses its toxic tail more deftly than a regular Rathian.

If you have hunted these monsters in the console games, the Radiant versions are where you will need to relearn timings. A Diablos that can smash through cover or a Kulu-Ya-Ku that throws dug up rocks is not the fight you remember.

Weapons: Eight Types at Launch, Charge Blade Is New

Garena's launch release confirms seven weapon types that were shown before launch:

  • Great Sword
  • Long Sword
  • Dual Blades
  • Hammer
  • Lance
  • Heavy Bowgun
  • Bow
On top of those, the Charge Blade is new for launch. It works the way series fans expect: you switch between Sword Mode and Axe Mode to adapt to the fight, balancing offense and defense. Garena says more weapon types will be added in future updates.

That is eight of the series' fourteen classic weapon types. If you main Switch Axe, Gunlance, Insect Glaive, Hunting Horn or a Light Bowgun, you will have to wait.

Adventurers: The 13 Hunters at Launch

Outlanders pairs each weapon type with original Adventurers who have their own twist on that weapon. The official site lists thirteen, each with a class of Assault, Support or Disruptor.

AdventurerWeaponClassPlaystyle (official description)
PyroGreat SwordAssaultEndures attacks to fuel huge burst damage

LukaBowAssaultMobile archer with piercing Thunder Coating arrows
MadelynBowSupportApplies Spores she can detonate to damage foes and buff allies
PepperHeavy BowgunDisruptorSome skills launch her airborne to fire rapidly from midair

A few quick reads on the roster from the official descriptions:

  • Support Adventurers bring buffs and protection: Madelyn's Spores, Arkaya's shield and Ryunosuke's food powered Spirit Blade.
  • Disruptor picks like Pepper, Keres and Luxheart are about pressure and sustained damage patterns.
  • Assault Adventurers such as Pyro, Rhodes and Luka are your burst damage options.
Garena says the first month of events can give players up to 400 Recruitment Tickets, the SSR Adventurers Pyro and Luka, and the SSR Buddy Kojiro. Raya also came free as the 10 million pre-registration reward. That is a strong free start: a Great Sword, a Bow and Dual Blades without spending anything.

Buddies: Palico, Rutaco and Trillan

Three types of Buddies join you on hunts and help with exploration and building:

  • Palico: the series favorite who traveled to Aesoland with the Adventurers, handy with various weapons and items. Listed as Assault.
  • Rutaco: native to Aesoland, skilled with tools and Radiantite for building. Listed as Disruptor.
  • Trillan: native to Aesoland, using their voices to support Adventurers. Listed as Support.
The building side is a real part of the game. The official site highlights gathering resources and building facilities as one of its core features, and the Rutaco exist specifically to help with that.

Pre-Registration Rewards

The official site tracks pre-registration milestones. Here is what it shows:

MilestoneRewardStatus on official site

Milestone rewards are delivered in game. If something looks missing, fully close and reopen the game, check the in-game mailbox, and only then contact support through Settings, Customer Service, which is the route Garena's FAQ points to for launch issues.

Device Requirements and Controller Support

Garena's FAQ lists these specs:

SpecMinimumRecommended
iOS versioniOS 15iOS 17
iPhoneiPhone 8 PlusiPhone 13 Pro
iOS RAM3 GB6 GB
Android versionAndroid 9Android 12
Android chipSnapdragon 835 or Dimensity 920Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Dimensity 9200
Android RAM4 GB8 GB

The official site lists controller support: yes. Garena adds an important detail: at launch, controller support covers selected features, including hunting, the quest system and field exploration. The team says it will keep refining controller support and expand it to other parts of the game.

The FAQ also warns that higher frame rates and graphics settings can make your phone heat up and drain battery faster. If a long hunt starts throttling, lowering those settings is the official recommendation. For lag or disconnects, there is a Network Test under Settings.

There is no PC or console version. Capcom's product listing is mobile only.

Daily Reset and Launch Events

According to Garena's FAQ, the daily refresh happens at 05:00 server time every day, and each event page shows its own countdown. Server time can differ from your local time, so trust the in-game timer.

Garena's version also runs a Trailblazer Guild launch event through November 30. Invite friends, form a guild and level up together. When guilds across the server collectively hit the target level, everyone on that server gets an exclusive title and stickers. It is another reason to settle on a server with your friends early.

First Day Tips

  • Pick your server once, carefully. No transfers and no cross region squads.
  • Bind your account to Google, Apple, Facebook or Garena rather than staying on Guest.
  • Do the big download on Wi Fi. The full client is a large install, and a stable connection avoids broken patches on day one.
  • Try every weapon early. Free Adventurers like Pyro (Great Sword), Luka (Bow) and Raya (Dual Blades) cover very different styles before you spend a single ticket.
  • Save Recruitment Tickets until you know which weapon and class you enjoy, so your pulls go toward Adventurers you will actually use.
  • Bring a Support for Radiant hunts once you start losing carts. Shields and buffs matter more on mobile than you might think.
  • Use Arena to practice timing, since everyone fights on equal stats.
  • Only redeem codes from official channels. Anyone offering free premium currency through a third party site is not someone you should give your login to.

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders Worth Playing?

If you love the core Monster Hunter loop of tracking a big monster across a living map and learning its patterns, Outlanders keeps that at the center. The recruitment side is generous early, with free SSRs in the first month, so free players can build a solid roster. Squads of four, a new Elder Dragon and Radiant variants of classic monsters give it its own identity next to Monster Hunter Wilds and Monster Hunter Now.

The weak points are clear too. Region locked servers are strict, controller support is only partial at launch, and six classic weapon types are missing for now. The minimum spec is generous, but the recommended phones are recent flagships, so older devices will need lower settings.

For a free download from Capcom's biggest series, it is easy to recommend trying it this weekend, as long as you pick your server with care.
