The Forever Open is the first big community tournament built on World of Warcraft: Forever. It is a 1v1 dueling event on the WoW Forever beta, with brand-new level 30 Horde characters, a $100,000 prize pool, and qualifiers this Saturday, October 17. Registration is already closed, so this guide is for viewers: when to tune in in Central time, how the event is set up, and what the new Forever class changes mean for duels at level 30.
One important point first: this is not a Blizzard event. It is run by content creators, with sign-ups and check-in on Raider.IO. Rules and times can change, and the organizers' Raider.IO event page and official Discord are the final word.
Schedule in Central Time
Raider.IO publishes the key dates in Pacific, Central and Central European time. Here they are in Central.
| Stage | Date | Time (CT) |
|---|---|---|
| Registration opened | Sun, Sept 27, 2026 | 1:00 PM |
| Registration closed | Fri, Oct 2, 2026 | 12:00 PM |
| Check-in opens | Sat, Oct 17, 2026 | 9:00 AM |
| Check-in closes | Sat, Oct 17, 2026 | 10:00 AM |
| Qualifying stage starts | Sat, Oct 17, 2026 | 12:00 PM |
| Finals | Sun, Oct 18, 2026 | Time TBD |
Raider.IO lists the finals time as TBD. If you plan to watch live on Sunday, check Esfand's or Xaryu's channel, or the official tournament Discord, on the morning of October 18.
Who Runs It and Who Could Enter
According to Raider.IO's event page, The Forever Open is organized by Tips Out, Esfand and Xaryu, with partners including Starforge Systems and RestedXP. Raider.IO frames it as a follow-up to the OTK Hardcore Mak'gora tournament three years ago, which it says drew over 2,500 registrations.
It is an open tournament: anyone with WoW Forever beta access could register. Raider.IO notes two ways to get access: opting in on the official WoW Forever site, which is not guaranteed, or pre-purchasing the Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection, which is guaranteed. Our pre-purchase upgrades guide covers what each pack includes.
Character Rules
Every competitor needed a brand-new character created under these rules, per Raider.IO:
- Created on or after September 27, 2026 at 1:00 PM CT. Older characters are removed from the event.
- On the PvP ruleset of the WoW Forever beta.
- On the Horde faction.
- With Foreverpvp as the last name. Forever's two-name system, explained in our names and rulesets guide, is what makes a shared surname like this possible.
Check-In Requirements
To actually play on October 17, Raider.IO says each competitor must:
- Check in on Raider.IO on the morning of October 17, before the tournament starts.
- Designate one character as their TFO character. This cannot be changed.
- Submit their talent build during check-in. This cannot be changed either.
- Have the character at level 30 before check-in.
- Pay a 15 gold entry fee.
Prize Pool
The tournament was announced with a $50,000 pool. Multiple tournament trackers report that TimTheTatman then added $50,000, bringing it to $100,000, which is the figure on Raider.IO's event page.
| Placement | Prize |
|---|---|
| Tournament champion | $50,000 |
| Top Warrior | $5,555 |
| Top Hunter | $5,555 |
| Top Mage | $5,555 |
| Top Rogue | $5,555 |
| Top Priest | $5,555 |
| Top Warlock | $5,555 |
| Top Paladin | $5,555 |
| Top Druid | $5,555 |
| Top Shaman | $5,555 |
The class prizes are the part to watch. Even if one class dominates the overall bracket, each of the nine classes crowns its own winner, so there are effectively ten races running at once. Tournament trackers also report that the top four players of each class advance from the qualifiers to the finals.
Where to Watch
Esfand and Xaryu carry the main broadcast on their Twitch channels, and co-streaming is welcome. Competitors also stream their own matches, so you can follow specific players directly.
What Level 30 Means in WoW Forever
Level 30 is an unusual dueling bracket, and Forever's class changes make it more interesting than a Classic level 29 or 39 twink bracket. Here is what Blizzard's class deep dives tell us about the toolkit available at that level.
Talent Points and Gold Medal Talents
Forever keeps the original talent structure: talents start at level 10, and gold medal talents sit at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points, with 16 as the new milestone. On that original structure, a level 30 character has 21 talent points to spend, which puts the new 16-point talents within easy reach and the 21-point talents reachable only by going all in on one tree. The 31-point capstones are out of reach.
| Class | 16-point gold medal talents (from Blizzard deep dives) |
|---|---|
| Warrior | Spearing Strike (Arms), Raging Blows (Fury), Vanguard (Protection) |
| Hunter | Summon Hawk (Beast Mastery), Counterattack (Survival) |
| Mage | Missile Barrage (Arcane), Ice Block (Frost) |
| Rogue | Cold Blood (Assassination), Flawless Execution (Combat), Premeditation (Subtlety) |
| Priest | Soul Warding (Discipline), Binding Heal (Holy), Vampiric Embrace (Shadow) |
| Warlock | Curse of Exhaustion (Affliction), Fel Domination (Demonology), Conflagrate (Destruction) |
| Druid | Insect Swarm (Balance), Shifting Power or Primal Bite (Feral), Swiftmend (Restoration) |
| Shaman | Call of Thunder (Elemental), Stormstrike (Enhancement), Mana Tide Totem (Restoration) |
Blizzard has not yet published a Paladin deep dive, so Paladin talents are not listed here.
Some 21-point talents that a fully committed level 30 build could reach include Penance (Discipline Priest), Mutilate (Assassination Rogue), Cold Snap (Frost Mage), Earthbound (Elemental Shaman), Trueshot Aura (Marksmanship Hunter), Strider Kick (Survival Hunter), Soul Link (Demonology Warlock) and Bane of Havoc (Destruction Warlock). Mutilate also needs daggers in both hands.
New Baseline Tools at or Below Level 30
Several of Forever's new baseline abilities arrive early enough to matter.
| Class | Ability | Learned at |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Tactical Mastery (keep 10 Rage on stance swap) | 14 |
| Warrior | Victory Rush (heal after a kill) | 20 |
| Hunter | Aimed Shot baseline; traps usable in combat | 20 / existing |
| Priest | Fear Ward and Devouring Plague for every race | 20 |
| Priest | Divine Spirit | 30 |
| Druid | Nature's Grasp (usable in forms) | 10 |
| Druid | Omen of Clarity | 20 |
| Shaman | Call of the Elements, Totemic Recall | 20 |
| Shaman | Totemic Projection | 22 |
| Shaman | Call of the Spirits | 30 |
A few big Forever spells come too late for this bracket: Frostfire Bolt (40), Shadow Word: Death (32) and Lacerate (42). Victory Rush heals only after killing a non-trivial enemy, so it is unlikely to matter in a straight 1v1.
Changes Duelists Will Feel
- Fear Ward for every Priest means the Horde-only field has Fear Ward available on all Priest races, not just the old racial lock.
- Sap no longer breaks Stealth for Rogues, which matters in the opening seconds of a duel.
- Hunter traps in combat on a 30-second cooldown, with separate Frost and Fire cooldowns, give Hunters a mid-duel control button they never had in Classic. Traps still drop only at the Hunter's location, and Hunters still cannot Stun or Interrupt.
- Hunter pets scale with gear and every family has a unique ability. A Crocolisk's Dismember cuts healing received by 50%, which could be a strong pick against healers.
- Druids can drink potions and use racials in form, including War Stomp for Tauren.
- Warlock Banes let a Warlock run Curse of Agony alongside a utility Curse.
- Shaman totems have a 1.0-second global cooldown and can be dismissed from a tracking UI.
Storylines Worth Watching
Because the class prizes run alongside the main bracket, there are a few angles to follow even if you do not know the players.
- Which classes fill their top four. Every class crowns a winner, so a class that struggles in the overall bracket can still produce a $5,555 champion. Watch how deep each class goes before players start meeting the strongest opponents.
- Hunter pet choices. With unique family abilities and pets that scale with the Hunter's gear, the pet a Hunter brings is now a real build decision rather than a cosmetic one.
- 16-point talent picks. The new 16-point row is the deepest new tier most level 30 builds can reach. Seeing which of those talents players commit to, with no option to respec mid-event, is an early look at how the community values Forever's new tools.
- Shaman totem play. Faster totems, Totemic Recall and the tracking UI change the pace of Shaman setup, which matters in a duel where every second before the first hit counts.
- Druid form uptime. Potions and racials in form remove some of the reasons Druids used to drop out of form mid-fight.
- Priest matchups. With Fear Ward available to every Priest race and Devouring Plague no longer a racial, Horde Priests of any race bring the same core tools, so race choice comes down to the reworked racial pairs.
What Comes After the Tournament
The Forever Open wraps up three days before the beta's scheduled end on October 21. From there, Blizzard's published timeline moves to launch: early name reservation for eligible packs runs October 27 to November 3, and WoW Forever goes live on November 4 at 3:00 PM PST (5:00 PM CT).
Blizzard's Warning About Gold
The 15 gold entry fee and thousands of fresh level 30 characters make this a natural target for gold sellers. On September 28, Blizzard community manager Kaivax reiterated in the official forums that real money transactions are not acceptable in World of Warcraft, including the Forever beta, and that Blizzard will increasingly take action against buyers as well as sellers. On October 13, Blizzard also announced Temporary Economy Holds, which restrict trade, mail, guild banks and the Auction House on accounts suspected of RMT while they are investigated.
For competitors, the safe path is simple: earn the entry fee in game.
