Bigby Wolf is back on the streets of Fabletown. The Wolf Among Us Remastered launched digitally worldwide on Thursday, October 29, 2026, bringing Telltale's 2013 noir detective story to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox with rebuilt visuals, a black-and-white Noir Mode, five playable deleted scenes and a big pile of behind-the-scenes extras. The headline for long-time fans is something nobody could promise until now: the choices you make in this remaster will carry into The Wolf Among Us 2.
If you have been waiting more than a decade for season two, or you never played the original and keep hearing people call it Telltale's best game, this is the version to pick up. This guide covers release times, price and launch discounts, platforms (including what happened to the Switch version), what actually changed, how the save carry-over works and whether it is worth buying if you already own the 2013 release.
Everything below comes from Telltale and PM Studios' official launch press release, the Steam store page and Telltale's own news posts.
What Is The Wolf Among Us Remastered?
The Wolf Among Us is a five-episode choice-driven detective game based on Bill Willingham's Fables comic series from DC and Vertigo. You play as Bigby Wolf, the Big Bad Wolf himself, now the reluctant Sheriff of Fabletown, a hidden community of fairy-tale characters living in secret in 1980s New York. A brutal murder kicks off an investigation that keeps getting uglier, and every conversation, interrogation and fight forces you to decide what kind of sheriff Bigby is going to be.
The remaster is a full rebuild of that first season rather than a resolution bump. Telltale co-developed it with Trick Studios, and the launch release says the team approached it "like a new game" while keeping what fans loved about the original. It is licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC and published by Telltale with PM Studios.
All five original episodes are included:
- Episode 1: Faith
- Episode 2: Smoke and Mirrors
- Episode 3: A Crooked Mile
- Episode 4: In Sheep's Clothing
- Episode 5: Cry Wolf
Release Date and Unlock Times
The Wolf Among Us Remastered is out now. Here is how the launch rolled out by platform:
- PlayStation 5: The PlayStation Store listing shows a release time of 04:00 UTC on October 29, which is 11:00 PM CT on Wednesday, October 28.
- Steam: Telltale's "OUT NOW" event on the Steam page is timed for 8:02 AM CT on Thursday, October 29, and the store page now lists the game as released.
- Epic Games Store and Xbox: Both are part of the same October 29 worldwide digital launch.
Platforms: Where Is the Switch Version?
At launch, the remaster is available on:
- PC via Steam (including Steam Deck) and the Epic Games Store
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox One, playable on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility
There is one detail Xbox players should note. The Xbox version is an Xbox One release that runs on Series X|S through backward compatibility, not a native Series X|S build. The publisher has not said whether a native version is planned.
Physical Editions
Physical retail editions are coming in Q1 2027 across multiple platforms. PM Studios CEO Michael Yum said in the launch release that bringing the game to physical release "reflects our commitment and dedication to delivering something truly special for players to hold onto." Pricing and contents for the physical versions have not been announced yet.
Price, Launch Discount and Returning-Owner Offer
The standard price is $24.99 USD. On top of that, there are two launch promotions running from October 29 through November 12, 2026:
- 20% launch discount for new buyers. On Steam that puts the price at $19.99 until November 12.
- Returning-owner discount of up to half off for players who own the original game digitally.
- The returning-owner offer only applies to qualifying digital purchases on the same platform and account as your original copy. If you bought the 2013 game on PS4 and want the remaster on PC, you should not expect that discount to carry over.
- On PlayStation, the 20% launch discount is only for PlayStation Plus members.
- The promotions cannot be combined, so you get one or the other.
- Exact eligibility depends on each platform.
What's New in the Remaster
Telltale has been showing off the upgrades in its "Remastering a Legend" features trailer and its October 26 trailer, which ended with a reveal of Bigby in a redesigned full werewolf form. Here is what the remaster actually adds.
Rebuilt Visuals and Audio
According to Telltale, "every corner of Bigby's world has been revisited." The list of upgrades includes:
- Enhanced environments with new textures and details
- Improved character fidelity, with characters rebuilt from concept through high-resolution modeling
- Upgraded lighting
- Refined animations
- Remastered audio
Noir Mode
Noir Mode is the feature Telltale has pushed hardest. It lets you play the entire story in a cinematic black-and-white presentation inspired by classic film noir, and per the Steam page you can switch between Noir Mode and the full-color remastered look at any time. That makes it easy to try for a single scene, like a rain-soaked interrogation, and flip back when you want the neon again.
For a first playthrough, playing in color is probably the better choice, since the purple-and-yellow look is a big part of what made Fabletown feel unique. On a replay, Noir Mode is a great excuse to go through the story again and make the opposite choices.
Five Playable Deleted Scenes
Telltale has restored five fully playable deleted scenes, cut from the original episodes before release and never playable until now. They are available as special features rather than being slotted into the main story, so your playthrough of the season itself stays faithful to the original structure. Telltale has not published a full list of what each scene covers, and part of the fun will be discovering them yourself.
Art Gallery and Developer Interviews
The bonus content also includes:
- An art gallery with more than 100 pieces of artwork, many never released before
- Over an hour of exclusive developer interviews about how the original game was made and how the remaster came together
Your Choices Carry Into The Wolf Among Us 2
This is the part that matters most if you have been following the series. For the first time, Telltale and PM Studios have confirmed that defining choices made in The Wolf Among Us Remastered will carry forward into The Wolf Among Us 2.
Here is how it works, based on the launch release and the Steam page:
- Sign in to your Telltale Account while you play the remaster. Your defining choices are linked to that account and can be brought into the next season.
- If you would rather skip the remaster, The Wolf Among Us 2 will let you set your past choices at the start of the game, with no previous playthrough required.
The practical tip is to create or sign in to your Telltale Account before you start Episode 1. If you play offline or skip the sign-in, there is no guarantee your choices will be saved to your account, and you may end up having to set them manually later. The October 26 announcement says The Wolf Among Us 2 is set to continue Bigby's story in 2027. No exact date has been given.
Should You Replay Instead of Using the Choice Picker?
If you finished the original years ago, replaying the remaster is the better way to set up season two. Many of the best moments in The Wolf Among Us come from small decisions that don't look important at first: which lead you chase, who you rough up during an interrogation and how much mercy you show when it finally counts. The game remembers more than you think, and a fresh run is the best way to make sure your Bigby is the one you want to bring forward.
PC System Requirements
The Steam page lists fairly modest requirements, so most gaming PCs and the Steam Deck should run it without trouble.
Both minimum and recommended specs list 8 GB of RAM and require a 64-bit processor and operating system. Steam also lists Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing support. Full audio is English only, with interface and subtitles in English, French, German and Latin American Spanish.
Is The Wolf Among Us Remastered Worth It?
It depends on where you are coming from.
If you have never played it: Yes. The Wolf Among Us is still one of the best examples of what choice-driven games can do, with a tight mystery, sharp writing and a cast of fairy-tale characters who are much darker than their storybook versions. It was nominated for BAFTA and D.I.C.E. awards. At $24.99, or $19.99 during the launch discount, you get the entire season plus extras, and it is the version that will connect to season two.
If you played the original and liked it: The returning-owner discount, Noir Mode, the deleted scenes and the save connection to The Wolf Among Us 2 add up to a good reason to go back, especially if you are planning to play season two when it arrives.
If you mostly care about content: This is the same story. The deleted scenes and extras are bonuses, not new episodes. If you only want new Fabletown plot, you are really waiting for The Wolf Among Us 2.
Note that the remaster has a mature content rating. The Steam page warns of frequent violence or gore, some nudity or sexual content and general mature content, which matches the original.
Tips for Your First Night in Fabletown
If you are jumping in today, a few things will make your playthrough smoother:
- Sign in to your Telltale Account first so your choices are saved for The Wolf Among Us 2.
- Leave timed choices to your instinct. The game gives you only a few seconds for many replies, and silence is a valid answer. Don't reload every decision, because the story works best when you live with your mistakes.
- Explore every investigation scene. The crime scenes are where the detective side of the game shines, and picking up clues changes the dialogue options you get later.
- Play in color first, then use Noir Mode for a second run.
- Save the deleted scenes for after the finale. They come from the original episodes, and some may make more sense once you know the full story.
- Check your discount before buying if you owned the original on the same platform and account.
Telltale's Comeback
The remaster is a big moment for Telltale. The original studio closed in 2018, and the brand and its IP are now owned by LCG Entertainment, which operates under the Telltale name. Since then, the revived company has released The Expanse: A Telltale Series and has been working on The Wolf Among Us 2. Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie described the launch as a celebration of "Telltale's history, the incredible loyalty of our community, and our continued commitment to creating memorable experiences for generations to come."
For fans, that matters less than the simple fact that Bigby is back, Fabletown looks better than ever, and season two finally has a direct line from the original.
