Jagex updated its Quest Month - Rewards Poll Blog on October 14, 2026, and the headline change is simple: the new darts are out of the poll. Everything else below is still a proposal headed to an in-game poll, not a live reward you can claim today. Quest Month itself is the November surprise-quest event players already voted for at the RuneFest Summit, with at least one quest releasing every week.
This guide walks through each remaining reward in player terms, explains why darts got cut, and separates what is polled from what is only planned design work. Thematics stay secret on purpose. Jagex is using the same surprise approach as The Ribbiting Tale of a Lily Pad Labour Dispute and the Scrambled quests from Varlamore. You get the mechanical reward outline now so you can vote, and the story when the quest ships.
For nearby OSRS coverage, our More Gathering Efficiencies October 14 guide is a separate live skilling patch, and our Fractured Archive October 20 overview covers the raid landing next week. Quest Month is November. Do not mix those calendars.
What Quest Month actually is
Off the back of the RuneFest Summit poll closing, Jagex confirmed players voted yes for a November full of adventure. The package:
- At least one quest every week in November
- Quests are surprises until release
- Every quest still gives suitable XP and quest points
- Only notable rewards go to a separate rewards poll
- Many smaller quests may just award XP and QP, which players told Jagex they were fine with
The poll after the October 14 update
Here is the shape of the rewards poll following community feedback.
Read that table twice if you only skim blogs. Darts are not Question 3 anymore. Question 3 is now the Hunter creatures only.
Question 1: Experienced bone storage bag
One Experienced-tier surprise quest would introduce an untradeable bone storage reward. Jagex has been clear about the rules because players immediately asked about Bones to Peaches and PKing.
Why this matters for real accounts
Prayer training often means banking trips or inventoring bones one load at a time. A 28-bone back-slot sack that auto-fills when set to open is a convenience item, not a combat item. The bank-only unload rule is the whole balance point. You cannot open it mid-fight to dump bones into a spell. If you die to a PKer, they get the bones you were carrying; you keep the bag and reclaim it from an NPC for a fee if you lose it.
Jagex also teased that if you think you have already guessed which quest awards this, ask yourself whether the team would really make it that obvious. Treat the quest identity as unknown until November.
Jagex says it is happy with where this reward sits and is going ahead with it to the poll.
Poll wording (Question 1)
Should we introduce an untradeable reward that holds up to 28 bones of any type inside it, as outlined in the blog? You will need to be at a bank to remove any stored bones. This would be rewarded upon completing one of the secret quests coming in November.
Question 2: Intermediate +10 Ranged Attack amulet
An Intermediate-tier surprise quest would reward a new tradeable amulet with +10 Ranged Attack, no level requirements, aimed at early-game and new players.
Clarifications from the October 14 update:
- The first amulet is free on quest completion
- Completing the quest also unlocks a shop where you can buy more
- The target audience is players who are not yet living on the Grand Exchange, and irons who are a long way from Necklace of Fangs at 55 Slayer
- Jagex compared community chatter around Necklace of Fangs, Amulet of Glory, and Amulet of Power, and still believes there is a gap for a cheap early Ranged Attack option
Who this is for (and who it is not)
This is not a late-game neck slot. It is a bridge for fresh accounts and early irons who want a little more Ranged accuracy while they work toward better jewellery. Mains who already buy Glory or better will not care much. New players and early irons will.
Accounts built for early questing and ironman progression are the ones this reward is written for, especially if you are about to start a fresh Gielinor run into November.
Poll wording (Question 2)
Should we introduce a new, tradeable amulet, providing +10 Ranged Attack, as described in the blog? This amulet is aimed at new players early in their journey and would be rewarded upon completing one of the secret quests coming in November.
Darts: fully withdrawn from the poll
This is the biggest October 14 change. Jagex is removing both new dart types from the pitch and removing the darts question from the upcoming poll. The team will redesign the attached quest without darts as a reward, and without anything else that would need polling for that slot.
What the withdrawn darts would have been
Before the cut, one Novice quest would have rewarded two low-level untradeable ranged throwables:
- One equivalent to Bronze darts, requiring Level 1 Hunter, Level 1 Fletching, and Level 1 Ranged
- One equivalent to Steel darts, requiring Level 5 Ranged, Level 12 Hunter, and Level 15 Fletching
- Lower make requirements than normal, no Tourist Trap requirement to fletch
- Any feathers usable, blowpipe compatible, untradeable
Why players pushed back (and why Jagex agreed)
Jagex lists the community concerns it agreed with:
- Being the same as Bronze and Steel darts makes it hard to justify the new items, which adds item bloat
- Tourist Trap is the iconic historical way of learning about darts, and players want to preserve that
- New players can use knives even before Tourist Trap, so the darts were not clearly solving an early-game problem
- Untradeable darts felt like too much effort for too little gain
What this means when you vote
Do not vote as if darts are still on the ballot. They are not. The Novice quest still exists as a Hunter teaching quest. Its polled piece is now creatures and access, not throwables.
Question 3: Novice low-level Hunter creatures
The remaining Novice reward is about teaching Hunter in early-game areas, not about new ammo.
New creatures (quest-gated)
Jagex plans:
- One new Hunter method with two creature levels: Level 1 and Level 12
- Two new birds for bird hunting: Level 1 and Level 17
The older blog text tied Level 12 creature and Level 17 bird drops to fletching the new darts. With darts withdrawn, treat those material drops as part of a redesign still in progress. Do not vote as if the dart loop is still shipping.
Extra early-game Hunter spots (not the new creatures)
Separately, Jagex plans to add a few additional low-level Hunter areas at Musa Point, Al Kharid, and Falador, using existing low-level creatures like birds and butterflies. Those spots will not include the new quest creatures. The goal is convenience for brand-new accounts training Hunter near starter towns.
Jagex's framing is important: think of the new quest as new game, not just early game. It is for players setting foot in Gielinor for the first time, not for efficient alts that already know the meta.
Poll wording (Question 3)
Should we add a handful of new low level Hunter creatures to the game as part of a new novice tier quest, as described in the blog? Access to these new creatures would be unlocked upon completing one of the secret quests coming in November. Note that none of these would be added to Hunter Rumours.
How to think about voting
A practical vote map:
- Yes on bones if you want Prayer QoL and accept bank-only unload plus PK bone loss
- Yes on the amulet if you care about new players and early irons more than neck-slot purity at the mid game
- Yes on Hunter creatures if you want a real Novice on-ramp into Hunter near starting areas
- Do not try to vote darts back in through this poll; that question is gone
Quest Month vs the rest of the October calendar
Do not confuse these three:
- October 14 Gathering Efficiencies - already live skilling QoL (our guide)
- October 20 Fractured Archive - raid launch target (our overview)
- November Quest Month - weekly surprise quests after this rewards poll
What to do before the poll goes live
- Read the official rewards poll blog yourself, including the October 14 update section
- Decide your three votes with the withdrawn darts in mind
- If you main an iron or a fresh account, weigh the amulet and Hunter questions harder than a maxed main would
- Watch the in-game poll booth and Jagex channels for the live poll; Jagex did not publish an exact clock time in the blog
- Keep November evenings free if you like surprise quests on release day
Frequently Asked Questions
What is OSRS Quest Month?
Quest Month is a November 2026 event players voted yes for in the RuneFest Summit poll. Jagex plans at least one surprise quest every week, with thematics kept secret until each quest releases.
Are these rewards live in the game now?
No. The October 14 blog update is about proposals going to an in-game poll. Nothing in this article is a live reward until it passes poll and ships with its quest.
Why were the new darts removed from the poll?
Community feedback said they duplicated Bronze and Steel darts, added item bloat, undercut Tourist Trap as the historic dart unlock, and were unnecessary when knives already cover early ranged throwing. Jagex agreed and withdrew both dart types and the darts poll question.
How does the bone storage bag work?
It holds up to 28 bones of any type, can auto-store when set to open, is worn on the back, and only unloads at a bank. If you are PKed, the PKer gets the bones and you keep the bag. It is untradeable and reclaimed from an NPC for a fee if lost.
Can you use Bones to Peaches with the bone bag in combat?
No meaningful combat abuse is intended. Jagex clarified you can only remove bones at a bank, so the bag is not a mid-fight Bones to Peaches engine.
Who is the +10 Ranged Attack amulet for?
New and early-game players, including irons who are not close to Necklace of Fangs. The first amulet is free on quest completion, and a shop unlocks for more purchases. It is tradeable with no level requirements.
Will the new Hunter creatures be on Hunter Rumours?
No. Jagex says none of them will be added to Hunter Rumours because they sit below the current rumour floor of level 19. Jagex is open to revisiting that after feedback.
Are Musa Point, Al Kharid and Falador getting the new quest creatures?
No. Those towns are planned to get extra spots for existing low-level birds and butterflies. The new creatures are unlocked by the Novice quest in their own quest area.
When does the rewards poll go live?
Jagex has not published an exact date and time. The October 14 update says the poll needs to go live soon because it is already mid-October ahead of November Quest Month.
Is Quest Month the same as The Fractured Archive?
No. The Fractured Archive is the raid targeting October 20. Quest Month is the November weekly surprise-quest event. They are separate parts of the autumn roadmap.
