Smilegate and Amazon Games pushed Fog of Diaspero to Lost Ark on Thursday, October 29, and it is the patch that finally sets up the last stretch of the Kazeros storyline in the West. The official Fog of Diaspero release notes open with the corruption from the Kurzan Abyss spilling into the seas and the body of Kazeros taking shape inside the fog. In practical terms that means a new prelude questline that gates the Act 4 Kazeros Raid, the Korean balance patch that accompanied Kazeros overseas, a fresh Proving Grounds season, a long-running Lucky Box event and the October Ark Pass.
Maintenance began at 1 a.m. PT, which is 3:00 AM CT, and was planned to run for six hours. If you logged in after roughly 9:00 AM CT, you were on the new build. This guide walks through what actually changed, what you need to finish before the prelude unlocks, how the balance notes shake out for each class, and which of the smaller quality of life tweaks are worth knowing about before you start your weekly routine.
One expectation to set right away: the release notes do not give a date for the Act 4 raid itself. Fog of Diaspero adds the prelude that is required to enter it, plus the class tuning that Korea played Act 4 on. Anything you read claiming a specific Act 4 launch date for the West is not coming from this patch.
Fog of Diaspero at a glance
Here is the full list of headline items from the release notes, with the details that matter for planning:
Kazeros Raid Prelude: Destined Trajectory
The centerpiece of the patch is a new NPC called Journey's Trace, who now stands in Elnead. Talking to them starts Kazeros Raid Prelude: Destined Trajectory, a prologue questline Smilegate describes as preparing you for the narrative climax against the Lord of the Abyss. It is a once-per-roster completion, so you only need to push one character through it, and finishing it is listed as a requirement to enter the Act 4 Kazeros Raid. Two new achievements come with it.
The catch is the prerequisite chain. You cannot pick up the prelude until you have finished every one of these:
- Kazeros Raid Act 1 Prologue Quest: Where the Volcanic Ash has Settled. This one requires Item Level 1660+, and you need to clear it with the required characters to progress the quest.
- Kazeros Raid Act 2 Prologue Quest: Paving the Way to Victory.
- Kazeros Raid Act 3 Prologue Quest: As One Again.
- Rimeria World Quest: Connected Duty.
- Hyper Awakening achievements: The Divine Will Lives On.
How to check where your roster stands
The fastest way to see what you are missing is to open your quest journal on the character you plan to use and look for any of the five quest names above under incomplete or available. If Journey's Trace in Elnead does not offer you the prelude, one of those is the blocker. Because the prelude is roster-wide, pick the character who already has the most of the chain finished rather than your highest item level.
Story spoiler note for Trixion
The general notes include one small change tied to the new episode: after progressing the Trajectory of Destiny episode beyond a certain point, Awakening Skills and Hyper Awakening Skills can no longer be used in the altered Trixion. If you go into Trixion afterward expecting to test full rotations on the dummies there, that is why your awakenings are greyed out. It does not affect any other content.
Quest prerequisite cleanup
Two older prerequisites were removed from the North Kurzan World Quest, which helps anyone working through Kurzan content on an alt. The quest Tension in Elnead no longer requires:
- The Kazeros Raid Overture: Spiral of the Crimson Midnight Sun and its prelude quest Crimson Floral Scent of Temptation.
- The Epic Raid Behemoth, the Storm Commander and its prelude quest Gathering Storm Clouds.
There is also a Knowledge Transfer fix: using Knowledge Transfer for Elgacia now marks the Shushire World Quest as completed. That is a small but welcome change if you have been fighting the questline on fresh characters.
Class balance: the Korean Kazeros patch arrives
Smilegate notes that this is the same balance patch Korea received alongside Kazeros, brought over so Western players can test changes before fighting the Lord of the Abyss. Almost every change targets Ark Passive Enlightenment nodes, with a handful of flat PvE skill damage adjustments mixed in. Here is every class touched, grouped by the overall direction of the change.
The biggest winners
Deathblade gets the single largest number jump in the patch. Limit Break's Orb Compression bonus at max Surge Enhancement stacks goes from +30/55/80% to +55/80/105%. That is a 25 point increase at every tier, and Limit Break is the node that defines how hard a Surge lands. If you shelved a Deathblade because Surge felt underwhelming next to other DPS, this is the patch to pull it back out.
Paladin also gets a meaningful bump. Piety Training raises Punish skill damage while Sacred Executioner is active from +14/25/36% to +25/34/43%. The low end of the node gains the most, which helps players who have not finished pumping Enlightenment points into it yet.
Sorceress sees Reflux Enhancement go from +10/21/32% to +17/28/39% all skill damage, still excluding Awakening Skills. That is a flat seven points at every level for the Reflux build, and it hits every non-awakening skill rather than a single button.
Artist is worth calling out because Lunar Blessing is a support node. Damage to foes rises from +20/27/35% to +28/35/42%, with the Moon Marble Harmony Meter gain unchanged. Supports are always in demand for Kazeros, and this makes the Lunar Blessing Artist a little more self-sufficient.
Classes that trade one number for another
A lot of the mixed changes look like Smilegate shifting value between two nodes rather than changing a class's overall output.
- Artillerist loses Barrage damage on Barrage Output Enhancement (+4/8/12% down to +3/6/9%, crit rate untouched) while Overheat Normal Skill damage climbs from +16/26/36% to +22/32/42%. Firepower players come out ahead, Barrage players lose a bit.
- Deadeye loses a little on Strategic Garb (+0/5/10% to +0/4/8%) and gains a lot on Handgun Enhancement (+50/62/75% to +60/72/84%).
- Striker gains Esoteric Skill Focus (+10/19/28% to +13/22/31.5%) and loses a little on Deathblow II (+11/17/23% to +10/16/21.5% per Esoteric Orb), with Advancing Strike also getting +7.1% PvE damage.
- Reaper sees Swoop damage on Follow the Shadow reduced (+140/155/170% to +130/146/162%) while Hunger's Atk. Power with a full Chaos Meter rises from +9/18/28% to +13/22/32%. That is a clear nudge toward the Hunger build.
- Gunslinger takes a flat 2.1% PvE skill damage cut, but Pacifist's stance-swap damage goes from +30/36/42% to +33/39/45%. Pacifist players likely end up close to even, while other builds lose a little.
- Destroyer gets PvE damage on Gravity Release (+2.4%) and Chain Strike (+8.1%), Gravity Training damage up from +6/12/20% to +7/14/24%, and a small Rage Hammer crit damage trim from +6/12.5/19% to +5/11/17%.
The nerfs
Berserker loses a point at each tier of Burst Enhancement (+7/14/21% to +6/12/18% damage in Burst) and a little on Berserker Technique (+0/2/4% to +0/1.7/3.4%). The Rage Atk. Power and MP recovery numbers and the three-Bloody-Rush behavior are unchanged.
Soulfist takes a flat 2.6% PvE skill damage reduction on everything except basic attacks.
Wildsoul has its Specialization modifier for Shapeshift Skills lowered from 0.355 to 0.332, and Wild Impulse drops from +2/7/13% to +1/6/12% Shapeshift skill damage. Wildsoul has been a strong pick since it arrived, so this reads as a tidy-up rather than a gutting.
Should you change mains?
For most players the answer is no. These are percentage tweaks to individual nodes, not reworks. Where it matters is roster decisions at the edges. If you were choosing which alt to push into Kazeros content next, the Deathblade, Paladin and Sorceress changes are big enough to tip that decision. If you were planning to rebuild a Barrage Artillerist or a Swoop Reaper, wait a week and see how the community settles before spending gold on new gems.
Proving Grounds Season 7
Competitive PvP rolls into Season 7, which is the first Competitive Match season to feature the Three Champions game mode. Fury PvP participation is available from the Ultra 1 tier and above. Ratings get the standard adjustment based on last season's performance, and seasonal rewards are paid out when Season 7 wraps up next year.
Note that the balance changes above are all tagged for PvE, so Season 7 is not suddenly a different meta because of this patch.
Arktober Lucky Box Event
The Arktober Lucky Box event runs from now until December 17. You complete daily and special missions to earn Lucky Boxes, which contain:
- Honing materials
- Trade items
- Cards
- A chance at a Surprise Box
The release notes do not list a specific end time on December 17, so treat the morning of December 17 as the safe cutoff and open any boxes before then.
Mist Knight Ark Pass
The October Ark Pass is the Mist Knight Ark Pass, with 30 levels of rewards earned through missions. Progress is earned across your whole roster, while rewards are roster bound.
- Regular (free): Pheons, honing material selection chests, card packs and more.
- Premium (Royal Crystals): adds rewards at all 30 levels on top of the free track, including more honing material selection chests and battle items.
- Super Premium (Royal Crystals): everything above plus the Mist Knight skins (female, male and Specialist versions), the Fluffy Cat mount and pet, and a Legendary Card Pack.
Azena's Blessing note
The notes add one line under Azena's Blessing: an Elysian ticket will not be provided during the short downtime between Paradise seasons. If you rely on Azena for Paradise access, do not expect a ticket in that gap.
Halloween skins and fever time
Logging in during a special fever time rewards two Halloween items: the Bat Hat and the Halloween Candy Trail Effect. The notes do not give exact fever time windows, so check the in-game event tab for the schedule.
Quality of life changes worth knowing
The general updates list is long, so here are the ones that change how you play day to day.
Items and gems
- Skin Chest tooltips and content preview windows now show which skins you already own.
- Engraving Recipe names now have grade indicators, which makes sorting your inventory and the Auction House far less error prone.
- Items picked up through object interaction are now sent via mail if your inventory is full, instead of being lost.
- The Brilliant Gem Refaceting window now shows the selected gem's level at the top, shows the equipped gem's level, and adds a Sort by Equipped Gems First option.
- The Character Profile Gem tab now shows symbols for Attack/Support effects and Cooldown Reduction on each gem slot, so you can read someone's gem setup at a glance.
Combat Analyzer
- When measurement starts, combat data affected by buffs that were applied before measurement is now also recorded. This makes parses on long pulls more accurate.
- Clash minigame progress no longer clutters the Skill Use Order timeline.
- Compact Mode no longer appears during cutscenes, and there is a new option to toggle Compact Mode display.
- Timeline tooltips no longer get hidden under your mouse cursor.
Social and system
- The block list expands from 100 to 200 characters, with improved expanded search for blocked members.
- Find Party listings from blocked characters are now hidden.
- Blocked characters who have been offline for 90 days or more now show a notification in the list.
- Honor can no longer be given to characters set to Offline.
- Chaos Dungeon and Kurzan Front entry screens now auto-select the highest available stage.
- Auction House relisting now shows extra information about the maximum price.
- While dead, you can no longer pull items into your inventory through Integrated Search.
- Two Simultaneous Buff Stack display fixes for Wardancer's Wind's Whisper and Paladin's Heavenly Blessings.
- Screen Space Reflection is now automatically enabled and controlled by the system in regions where it applies.
Valkyrie audio
Valkyrie hit sound effects were improved, and her skill voice lines now play more often.
A practical checklist for the first week
If you only have a couple of hours this week, here is the order that gets the most out of Fog of Diaspero:
- Check the prelude chain on one character. Finish any missing Act 1 to 3 prologue, Rimeria or Hyper Awakening steps, then run Kazeros Raid Prelude: Destined Trajectory so your roster is cleared for Act 4 whenever it arrives.
- Start the Lucky Box dailies. The event runs until December 17, and the Surprise Box odds only pay off if you open a lot of boxes.
- Claim the free Ark Pass track. Roster-wide progress means your normal weekly routine fills it.
- Re-check your class after the balance notes. If you play Deathblade, Paladin, Sorceress or Artist, run a few Combat Analyzer parses now that it records pre-applied buffs.
- Hold off on big rebuilds. If you play one of the mixed or nerfed classes, give it a few days before regemming.
Frequently Asked Questions
When did the Lost Ark Fog of Diaspero update go live?
Fog of Diaspero went live on October 29, 2026. Maintenance began at 1 a.m. PT, which is 3:00 AM CT and 8 a.m. UTC, and was expected to last about six hours, putting the servers back up around 9:00 AM CT unless the maintenance was extended.
Does Fog of Diaspero add the Kazeros Act 4 raid?
No. It adds Kazeros Raid Prelude: Destined Trajectory, a once-per-roster questline that is a requirement to enter the Act 4 Kazeros Raid. The release notes do not include a release date for Act 4 itself, so the prelude is your preparation step rather than the raid.
Where do I start the Kazeros Raid Prelude?
Talk to the new NPC Journey's Trace in Elnead. If the quest is not offered, you are missing one of the prerequisites: the Act 1, 2 or 3 Kazeros prologue quests, the Rimeria World Quest Connected Duty, or the Hyper Awakening achievement The Divine Will Lives On.
What item level do I need for the Kazeros Raid Prelude?
The prelude itself does not list a separate item level in the notes, but its prerequisite chain includes the Act 1 prologue quest Where the Volcanic Ash has Settled, which requires Item Level 1660 or higher and a clear with the required characters.
Which classes got buffed in the Fog of Diaspero balance patch?
The largest buffs went to Deathblade (Limit Break Orb Compression up to 55/80/105%), Paladin (Piety Training up to 25/34/43%), Sorceress (Reflux Enhancement up to 17/28/39%) and Artist (Lunar Blessing up to 28/35/42%). Scrapper, Arcanist, Summoner, Souleater, Glaivier, Sharpshooter, Machinist, Shadowhunter, Aeromancer and Slayer also received buffs.
Which classes were nerfed in Fog of Diaspero?
Berserker lost damage on Burst Enhancement and Berserker Technique, Soulfist took a 2.6% PvE skill damage cut, and Wildsoul had its Shapeshift modifier and Wild Impulse reduced. Gunslinger also took a 2.1% PvE skill damage cut, partly offset by a Pacifist buff.
When does the Arktober Lucky Box event end?
The Arktober Lucky Box event runs until December 17, 2026. The notes do not give a specific end time, so open your boxes before that day to be safe.
What is in the Super Premium Mist Knight Ark Pass?
The Super Premium track includes everything from the free and Premium tracks plus the Mist Knight skins for female, male and Specialist characters, the Fluffy Cat mount and pet, and a Legendary Card Pack. It is unlocked with Royal Crystals, and rewards are roster bound.
What is new in Lost Ark Proving Grounds Season 7?
Season 7 is the first competitive season to include the Three Champions game mode. Fury PvP is open from the Ultra 1 tier and up, ratings receive the standard adjustment from last season, and seasonal rewards are handed out when the season ends next year.
